Should I build my own comp?

im getting a custom comp, but should I build it myself or pay some guy at the store to do it? its obviously my first time.. is it too hard/risky to put it together on my own if i've never done it before?

It's only truly a custom comp if you build it yourself. In the long run you are going to save yourself money and learn a completely invaluable skill at the same time. Knowing your PC inside and out is very important, specially when it comes to troubleshooting.

We can help you through your first build process no problems at all. You will find that it's rather quite easy and very fun to boot!

Hi, this is my first post. I'm hoping to build my first pc and could I ask if there is an online tutorial to view before I attempt the build.

Thanks

I don't know of one but someone might. In the meantime if you have any questions post them here. :)

Thanks for your help. I did find a few on google and youtube but nothing great. I wasnt looking in the right place. Thanks for the link.

Cant go wrong building your own PC! Everything only fits in 1 hole anyway really lol, just need to buy things that are matching! :)

I'm a Little worried about fitting the Duel core CPU and applying the Arctic Silver 5. If I have too much on the CPU, how do you know the correct amount and if i have to remove it what do I use to take it off. I did a search and found that for dual core its a line of paste, is this correct. I seen written somewhere that another spreads a small amount over the entire CPU. Not sure whats best.

Thanks in advance.

when using AS5 i put a pea sized lump in the middle, take a credit card and with a lot of force spread a very thin layer all over the cpu, then wipe any excess left on the card onto the heat sink / water block and spread it with my finger.

If your IHS is not lapped its usually a good idea to put a small extra blob in the center to be safe, then mount your heatsink or waterblock as tight as you feel safe

Thanks, I'm going to use freezer pro 7. Does the same instructions apply.

Could I also ask what do you use as a cloth to clean any off... kitchen roll??

Could I also add I need attach the system panel connectors into my Asus P5WD2 Prem MB. So many wires to attach but unsure what to connect to.

Thanks in advance
