Setting up a Rapid Storage setup

Hello, I'm trying to utilize a extra SSD that I have laying around below is my current setup.

Intel Core i5 2500k

Asrock Z68 EXTREME4 Gen 3

(2) EVGA Nvidia Geforce GTX560Ti FPB

Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 8GB (2x4)

Samsung 830 256GB (boot/game drive)

Seagate Barracuda 500 GB SATA II

LG 12x Super Multi Blue WH12LS38

CM Storm Sniper

Corsair AX850 PSU

Corsair Hydro H100

Now what I would like to do is take my spare SSD OCZ Vertex 2 90GB and have it be my rapid storage drive for my Seagate HDD. Is it worth it to do this and how would I go about doing this. I know the max is 64 GB or something for cache so I would have to break it up. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

caching your storage drive is beyond useless. As its storage caching is better used for boot/application drives. Plus i do not beleive the cache option is avaialble to storage drives. Your best bet if you want to use it is to make it an app/game drive to run frequently used programs off of but as you have a 256 gb main drive I'm doubting its overly full yet. Plus iirc the vertex 2 is sata 3GB/sec so you'd be wasting a sata 6GB/sec port with it not to mention the caching program only works with the intel sata 6GB/sec ports and I'm sure thats where ya have your Sammy at. So it wont cache to the other intel ports i.e. sata 6gb cant be cached to the sata 3gb ports.

welcome to the forum,

i hadnt tried a "larger" drive for cache, but i have used the RST. i liked my SSD RAID0 more over the RST cache, even using the SSD as boot and the storage as

storage. the faults i found where hangin boots, driver loading issues, and drive time-out. it felt kinda like the boot manager didn't really know what order to

place the RST in the load cycle. sometimes first, sometimes other places.. just confused. so RAID0 (kingston V100 self collection no trim needed).

Well see both drives are SATA II therefore my reasoning for trying to have the OCZ Vertex 2 Rapid Storage for my hard drive. Obviously my Samsung is monsterous because of the speed and copacity but I was just trying to find a way to utilize my spare SSD that or try and sell it zero it out and sell it I mean which I need to figure out how to do.
