Setting CPU to Stock Settings

I want to run my CPU in its most stable state without losing performance, so obviously stock settings, however the voltage is on auto and on CPUID the Vcore is getting as high as 1.2V, which is high if you ask me!
What should I do?

Well umm, what CPU do you have to start with...?
1.2v isn't necessarily high for an i5/i7 processor and definitely not for a Phenom or FX processor so yeah.

Chances are that if you haven't fiddled with the BIOS settings then the motherboard is setting the right voltage, I guess you could always reduce the voltage and see how far you can go.
Check out Tom's overclocking guide, the same principles apply to pretty much any modern day processor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBEeXajbG2o

That's even a pretty safe voltage for AMD FX series at stock especially if you have the Cool & Quiet feature activated as it will bounce easily between 0.98v - 1.39v depending on your activity and the CPU boost.
