search app/program for doubled up items

Hey OC3D would like to know if there is an app or program that can search your hard drives and detect doubled up items as I have lots of drives where I know have doubled up items on them so I can free up space on them?

Use the "uninstall or change a program" feature. Should tell you everything that is installed and you can delete the crap you don't need. Usually should just leave all the MS related programs alone unless you know its 3rd party software.

I should be more specific I want to find items such as movies, music, photos and exe. files and stuff like that which I may have multiple versions of across multiple drives

Being specific usually helps

Best way to prevent a problem like this is just organize the way you set up your files.

For a quick example: make a folder for all movies, inside that folder have those movies in their own folder with all the files.

Anyway you if you know any files that you want to be deleted then you could just use the search bar and delete that way.

I'm using TotalCommander on a daily basis and I noticed it lets you search for duplicates by same name and/or same size and/or same contents. It seems to work pretty well but I don't know how it compares to other software speed/accuracy wise.

That will take quite a bit to organize without a doubt.

there was a thread about this a while ago (at least 6 months i think). they found some good programs iirc, just search through the hdd subforum.
