hi guys just a quick one,

a friend is offering me a sapphire radeon hd 5870 2gb eyefinity 6 for £65 as I'm without a GPU

its this a good deal?

i usually would say that you should go for a newer one, but since money doesnt seem to be happily living in your wallet considering that you don't have a gpu i'd go for it. but check if the card is alright and if you can lower the price some more, you can always get the price down by a few quid. also don't hook up 6 screens to that card.

A buddy of mine was using my old 5870 till yesterday and it was still giving him good performance, 65 sounds like an ok price to me for the performance it gives. (he only upgraded as he runs multiple instances of EVE while playing other stuff)

what's the best way to test a gpu to see if it's ok?

just check for heavy dust, check if any of the visible stuff isn't looking like it is supposed to, at best let it run a benchmark before you buy it.

ok cool there is a bit of dust, and run the benchmark heaven every thing is ok even played DmC and Dead Space 3, look awesome!
