Sandy Bridge Launch Date Cause Price Drop

Hello,

I was wandering with the launch of Sandy Bridge, would we see a considerable price drop in the current Intel Core i7 CPUs and lower range?

No mate as its nothing to do with 1366 socket. so it wont effect them at all.

What about AMD? Would the launch of Sandy Bridge effect AMD prices? If it does I might move over to AMD if the price to power ratio shifts.

Nothings been said what AMD are doing when SB hits. I'd imagine the current dual, tri and quads will stay the same but the X6 would most likely drop $30.

I would imagine 1156 would drop until all stocks are cleared. The drop will probably occur a month or two after release though.

Not very likely.

When LGA 1156 came out, prices of LGA 775 quads held firm. In fact, they're still where they were when 1156 was introduced. The Q9550 is still ~270 USD and the Q9400 around 205 USD.

I would expect slight price drops from AMD, just to remain competitive, but don't expect Intel to lower theirs.
