Hi guys I am new here but wanted to get your thoughs. I have here are my computers specs

AMD FX-8370
Asus 970 PRO GAMING/AURA
G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory
PNY XLR8 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Kingston Predator 240GB M.2
Asus Radeon R9 380X 4GB
Thermaltake 750W 80+ Gold

So this is what I have have difficulties with. I loaded Windows 10 on to my PNY SSD updated everything and every thing was running great. I was getting a getting a score of 85 on the sniper elite bench mark. I dis-connected the PNY drive and installed the M.2 Predator and did a clean install of Windows ten drivers updates all that. Then when I ran the same sniper elite bench mark I was only getting a graphics score of 45, and can not get anything more even trying to over clock the card. I was stumped. I reocnnected the PNY drive and booted from it I was able to get the score in the eighies again.

Does anyone have any ideas.

It could be that the m.2 shares bandwidth with the PCIe bus, I don't think it can saturate the whole bandwidth but could be the cuplrit, are you on the latest BIOS version?

M2 ports are a part of your PCIE lanes. They are just mini PCIE slots, that's why in some you could either use an SSD or something like a mini wireless card (that's what my PC has in there, some Intel Proset thing).

Open up GPUZ and look at how many lanes are being allocated. You will need to run the worm test to see exactly what they are running at.

This is the sad reality of using a 970 chipset. They have nowhere near the same features a 990 has.

Needless to mention that everything that isn't "ASUS" made on the 970 chipset tends to explode in a spectacular way if you start tinkering....
Only motherboard atm on the market on the 990fx platform that has m.2 is the 990fx killer by asrock, a horrible board regarging overclocking

score is a bit low for your spec, mines is well below your spec and im getting 120 in that game

So I went with your logic that the M.2 was using the PCI lanes that the cards was using. So I decided to try something different. I removed the m.2 drive and reloaded windows on to a different SSD drive plugged into the same SATA cable. And I got the same results with the low score. So then I figure that maybe it was something with the card and no I swapped it with a friend that has the same card and his card on my machine was getting the same results where on his machine we are getting almost 2 times the FPS. I do have directx 12 and the latest driver on my machine. My friends rig has DX12 and the last drive before the one that just came out. Any thoughts

Any other reasonable explanation would be malware, or a corrupt windows installation.
I recommend running a malwarebytes scan for the first, and a windows inplace upgrade for the second

Its a brand new installation of windows. I installed windows the graphics driver and mother board drivers. and the wireless card drivers and the dx11 june2010 attributable. The last was becuase it was saying that I was missing D3D compiler dlll
