well i got this for cheap since the dude realised bulldozer was a fail and a super cheap (£70) 1090T came my way so yeah down to the fault i had it on the box just messing about with various graphics cards in vantage to really see how big the gap is between generations and i heard a wee crackled then a puff of smoke and this is where it came from (on pic) ive contacted asus about it already but there taking there sweet time anyone on here any idea what this part is? the board works perfect still

had guesses from ppl that its prob a voltage reg and some ppl are sayin it might be something to do with the spdif and i think its possibly usb related?

It looks like a voltage regulator and they are the sort of thing that does go pop when under stress but its hard to be certain from the pic. If you turn the board over you might be able to see a few bits that its connected to and get a better idea from that?
