Router

Well i just put a peice of plastic (that V shaped stand on the bottom of cheap tv antennas) underneath the router as an elavation to give it breathing room.

Hopefully this should reduce the overheating problem a lot since i guess the carpet is whats causing a lot of the blocked heat.

Most routers could benefit from a bigger, airier box and better ventilation. But manufacturers have to cram as much stuff into as smalll a space as possible.

Thats more common with wireless routers, they are far more likely to drop out due to the extra work they have to do for encryption, as well as the fact they can have upto three different network layers meaning they can get very hot. Tbh, not only could routers benefit from a bigger box, but they would also do a lot better with some active cooling.
