Robs First Watercooling Loop

And that is where i'm the polar opposite. I would rather have clean runs, and a minimalistic loop than a plethora of pointless rotaries, fittings and gadgets. But how about we don't force our own choices down his throat and let Rob ease into it.

That kind of debate is probably not the place for someone beginning with watercooling. Better that he gets comfortable with what he has and goes from there. It's meant to be an enjoyable hobby after all. And while you enjoy your soft tubing, I love the art of hard tube, heating bending and so on.

Its personal preference in the end, but lets not force it on him.

I'm not forcing anything dude. I like soft tubing, and to get it right you need fittings to direct it etc. That's just my opinion remember. He's asking for advice, having fittings is good advice. They last pretty much forever and O rings are cheap.

Water cooling is for life, not just for Christmas :p

And yeah, it's a hobby which means you collect and get better at it :)

I would always suggest avoiding fittings where possible as it increases resistance, however, sometimes it's unavoidable to use them in areas where you need sharp bends or have limited space.

I have a single 90 and a single 45 in my current loop and only because they're necessary.

I'd live to go hard tube one day because I'd like to experiment and also think my PC deserves it but I'm not there yet!

It's only downhill (for your wallet and the itch) from here Rob :)

actually resistance on fittings is so small its negligible. Blocks and rads increase the PSI the most :) I just think they add unnecessary weight, and also more chance of leaks. As well as space in a case. Sometimes they are unavoidable though with short intricate bends. The less the better in my eyes :)

However for aesthetics, fittings can give a nice industrial look if you opt for 90s everywhere. It does add annoyance of a tear down though since stiff rotaries destroy your skin when dismantling hehe. I would rather bend the tube wherever I can and give it a real nice smooth look.

Some prefer soft tubing though so its all personal preference in the end.

Yes I can certainly vouch for that. I bought an American CPU block for my X570 rig just to try, and the flow rate jumped a ton just by switching to that block. I also had rigs full of 90 degree fittings, they changed nothing for me. With the almighty D5 vario, resistance is futile. :D
