Hi fellas one of my friends want to invest in his first water cooling loop for his rig. He is running a AMD920 and two 6850's, he will be adding blocks to the CPU and the 6850's. This is going to be his first setup so it needs to be simple but not cheap like ThermalTake. He was looking at this res http://www.xoxide.com/x2o-750dualbres.html However I think he needs a kit with all the fixings tubing, fittings, pump/res Do you guys have any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

not sure about that pump with 3 blocks but it is a good pump rez combo. If you go that way you can get the RX360 kit which has everything you need (minus the liquid) you'll have to buy the gpu blocks separately

Personal experience, I'd try and see if you can mount the pump separately. I get a lot of buzzing with my pump/res (could be my Laing DDC is a bit strong in comparison to an XSPC res but I'm not sure) but I get a definite buzzing noise from the pumps vibrations.

It may be all right for your mate, but the buzz drives me crazy.

That pump has very low over heard pressure and i would not recommend it for a 3 block set up. I would go for a min of a DDC 18w and a standard bay Res.

You might want to think about having the cpu on its own loop because of the particularly low max core temps - running it alongside the 2 6xxx could make a fairly high average temp which will obviously be closer to the cpus 62C limit.

Also is your friend going to be doing any over clocking?

I'm trying to talk him in to getting two Koolance PMP450s pumps and a Koolance bay res to run duel loops. He is a bit of a tightwad, I told him "ya cant be a tightwad when it comes to water cooling, go all out or don't go". Maybe he will listen to me

Thanks fellas for the advice.
