Replacement 140mm fan for PSU

So I finally got around to checking out the whirring noise from my PC whilst I was dismantling it over Easter. I had assumed it was the pump but that was actually silent, instead it turns out it was the fan on my PSU. Rather than buy another PSU I've decided to change the fan.

I'm looking for a 140mm fan, ~1800rpm, nice and quiet obviously but with sufficient airflow. I don't think pressure is particularly important here. It's a 2 pin fitting but I'm quite happy modding the PSU to fit a 3 pin fan and I can make a quick video on how to do that if people are interested.

The fan I'm currently thinking of is the Noiseblocker BlackSilentPro 140mm 1700 rpm.

I've had a look at others but the Cougar Vortex is too expensive.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Enermax TB Silence are 14bB in 140mm variety. My 2 are inaudible, you only hear the whine of the motor when you push your ear right up to them.

The new Fractal R2 fans are great, so too are the Enermax TB Silence (mentioned above) and the Bifenix Spectre's are pretty good too

As the main consent of this topic is silence. Personally I would go with some nf-f14 and mod the cable. the only cables that are needed for the power is red and black. but that's if you want extreme quietness. and don't mind messing about. personally quietness is key and a job should be done right the first time. hope this helped

If the Cougar fans are too expensive so too are the NF F12's most likely. Plus they're not 140mm so it wouldn't fit.

the two pin is irrelevant if you look at molex to 3 pin headers they actually have 2 pins(atleast mine do) so any fan will work. I actually have the same problem the loudest part of my rig is the psu cheap GS700 which is odd since I have the Coolermaster LED fans the spectre or w/e and are quiet compared the this psu.

The 140mm GELID WING is pretty reputable from what I hear and the blades cab be popped off from my understanding for cleaning

Cheers, I'll take a look at those too. I'm still hanging on until I order the other parts for my rig before I do this so I'll make a decision then.

Yea the 3rd wire is just a reporting wire. You only need the red & black one. all you have to do is pull the silicon mount off the pins (it's just a push fit) and plug the new fan straight on.
