Hi i just want to ask what watercooling system can you suggest on my dell precision t5400 workstation and what water block can be fit on LGA771 socket it has 2 processor install on my motherboard was planning to convert it to liquid cooling.

BTW can anyone give me some good retailers on Liquid cooling i'm located in california.

There is no way you will be able to fit either a custom water loop or a pair of all in one systems like the H50 into that case without major modding, an external loop isnt out of the question for it but finding water blocks to fit it will be a real pain as 771 boards use a rectangular mounting system like amd but im not sure on the spacing for them.

Personally i would put the money you were looking to spend on it into a new system to replace it, something like a 2600k would be a more power efficient/quiter/cooler replacement that you could even add a mild overclock to without making much of a temperature increase.

Well I'm not sure if the t5400 case has support for watercooling but I found a block with support for LGA 771 and it is here you might need a new case if you plan on getting a loop in there though

and like the guy above said that system is a little dated and even something like a 2600k would have a performance increase but I would wait til ivy bridge comes out or go with the i7 3820 on the x79 platform assuming you're doing content creation since you have a workstation pc

You can put 771 chips into 775 motherboards but the mounting system is very different, that block has a square mounting system so the closest to a 771 it would get is if you put a 771 cpu in a 775 mobo.

A block with a universal mounting plate would be the closest you will find tbh, something like the XSPC X20 Delta.

actually sir i dont need to buy a new rig because the reason i bought this workstation because I will use it as my personal private server so thats why i'm thinking to put a liquid cooling system on this rig BTW. the waterblock in swiftech quite expensive is there any alternate instead from swiftech

That swiftech block price is roughly what most blocks cost, and as i said before you will be hard pressed to even find a block that FITS the 771 mount.

Why did you buy a dual cpu work station as a server anyway if you dont mind me asking? if it was a file server/media server a low powered i3 system would have been much better, if it was for (im taking a shot in the dark here) a minecraft server then again an i3 would have been better.

actually I just want to make a private server if i get some little income from it i would buy a new AMD Bulldozer right now i just want to upgrade the cooling systen on my workstation

how about XSPC does it fit on LGA 771?

come on guys he didnt ask if there was better out he wants to liquid cool what he has. Stop trashing and help or dont post nuff said.

I'd look at some of the older stuff like danger den used to sell like the tdx or rbx. That aside look for some kind of universal mount block or maybe an old plexi topped box you may be able to mod.iirc those have a cpu back plate so if you found a plexi topped block you may be able to simply drill holes in it at the right sopt and find some screws that thread into the backplate a couple washers and springs and nuts and ur set. Hard part will be monting a rad most likely will have to be externally mounted

so inshort if i can't find any waterblock i just buy a universal then if its not well fit on the board i just put a another hole right?

correct those plexi topped older ones normally have alot of space on them should be easy enough I'd have to see the bolt pattern to say for 100% sure. If not I'm sure with a little creativity you could easily mod one to fit properly

ok thanks by the way is there any good retailer buying for liquid cooling system and what band or kit i must buy for this rig?

sorry for double post i just want to clarify what the item i should buy and what are the websites of the retailers i'm located in california thanks...
