So I assume this is just for OCUK?...

It'll be everywhere soon enough. Then AMD will drop the Fury X price and Nvidia will have to counter.

I know people seem to think it's incredibly clever buying a 980ti now since the Fury X isn't conclusively faster but it's actually a really terrible idea to buy now.

The price war hasn't even started yet.

I can understand where you are coming from, although for me personally, I don't like AIO coolers on graphics card. Sure they are benefitial, but I don't like them nor think they are very efficient inside a PC.

But that's just my 2 cents and since I've already been in the process of a 980Ti, with an ROG Swift, and a Titan X shroud for the 980Ti... it would be a bit pointless letting all that go for this one. As in my eyes it just doesn't appeal to me, then of course, it's a bit more pricey, not denying that. But guessing that's the way of life at times, that you just gotta have to suck it up ^_^

I wonder though, if the prices go down soon... if you can go back to the store and ask for the price difference in return?

AIOs on a GPU should be mandatory. Don't fight it man, it's inevitable.

Back when the Corsair H50 came along every one was saying air coolers were better, how real water cooling was better... The fact is that they are now pretty much an institution on CPUs.

And the best bit? a GPU core is far smaller and cooler than a CPU core, so temps on an AIO, even a crap one, are very low. My Titan Black with a H55 on it does not break 40 degrees. That's epic ! and the best part? I'm running a low RPM 120mm fan on it that doesn't make a sound. I mean nothing, let alone that horrible wasp like whirring sound GPU fans make or even worse the whoosh of a blower cooler that sounds like a sodding hoover.

The 980ti is a good card with a totally pants price. Sorry man, but northwards of £500 is absolutely disgusting and I would have held firm. People said AMD took the pee charging £430 for the 7970, yet Nvidia can charge a grand for their top end and £600 (because let's face it it's AMD Fury that's dropped the price of the ti) and every one thinks that's OK.

It's not ! stop being muggy and stupid !!!! wallets closed, voting is on.

As I said, £600 max for me. That's for two of these next gen cards. That's twice the cost of a reasonable gaming console so I don't think that's unfair in any way.

AMD Fury X may not be a Titan X killer. That's good - no company can survive on something that sells in tiny numbers. It's a 980 and 970 killer though. Like, totally. Give it a few weeks and it will cost what the 980 and 970 does. Then AMD will have "that" product that every company craves. A big selling mid range card (you know? the one that people actually buy).

I'll keep waiting. Here's hoping the Fury (non X) lowers the price of everything. Which seeing as how Nvidia panicked and released the Ti before benches of the Fury were leaked seems highly likely.

They don't want to do a Titan Z again and leave retailers with a incredibly badly priced POS.

I agree with you on that, and I also disagree with you, but that is more of a personal preference though rather than a logical, overall, one.

Regarding the CPUs AIO coolers, that I totally agree with, so not saying anything regarding that.

I wasn't really all that into PCs at the time when Corsair's AIO released, it was mostly after their H80 that I got a knowledge of them and especially after the H100, that I was pretty much into it.

So regarding air coolers and such, I didn't know about that history or war, but have during the years come to have heard of it.

Although, when it comes to graphics card... I have just let this image of a standard graphics card. An AIO cooler on it, to me atleast, looks a bit funky to be honest. My view on it might change in the future though.

I just like the look of Nvidia's reference coolers, just look at the picture above... sure it's not the most efficient one on the market, in terms of noise levels etc. But it does look so good, especially in all black as the Titan X.
And for some that doesn't matter, but for some, like me, it does a bit actually.

At the end of the day... we are all difference and have different preferences :)

I should be more like you barnsley, you're like a real reasonable man and I've actually been following you in terms of situations like this to be honest here :p

Not sure about what the whole thing with the Titan Z was though?...

its perfect time for me. Especially with the Norwegian kroner crashing hard. Having a Gsync monitor kinda locks me to one side for now. But I dont know why people are so underwhelmed by the Fury X. I think its an outstanding first edition of HBM memory. Only better to come I hope.

Are you referring to "core" as the chip or as the single stream processor on the gpu?

GPUs are much bigger than CPUs, that's why they are easier to keep at lower temperatures even if they dissipate more heat

nice to hear prices of the GTX 980 Ti will be dropped, everybody will love that, but
on other think NVidia would have to change is remove the voucher for Batman and adn a better game , as sale of batman game has been suspended , and I doi not want a broken game with a good functional gpu? what do you think?

You can still redeem codes for it, and it will eventually be okay. The game in game terms is still pretty good, it's just a bad implementation and bad port. It will improve.

*Does a little happy dance*

Bring on the price wars!! :D

I'd never have bought my GTX 780 were it not for price cuts from Nvidia to combat the 290X.

The price war is great and as Vault-Tec says, it's not even started in earnest yet.

I'm monitoring their prices daily, wondering which model to get. I always like the EVGA Superclocked reference models but they carry a premium for that 1102Mhz base clock. I suspect the non-modified 1000Mhz models will be a lower ASIC quality therefore limiting the overclock, a bios flash from a different vendor's card isn't guaranteed to get you there.

Anyway, this price war is the effect of one company not having a monopoly and that is certainly a good thing, long may it continue.

I would like to see the new AMD card well well, i'm seriously thinking of switching. nvidia p*ssed me off a little with their refusal to support the new vesa specced freesync in order to maintain sales of their grossly overpriced Gsync systems.
