Really wierd thing with my sis @ the mo.

There's something really wierd going on with my sister at the mo.

Basically, a month ago she went to the docs with a bad flu virus. She was told to stay indoors for 2 weeks because they couldn't identify the virus.

Last Wednesday she was rushed into hospital because her temperature was through the roof and she was almost unconsious.

Since then they've taken blood samples, and done about three scans because the samples came back clean. While I was visiting her last night, the consultant came round and (to cut a long story short), he admitted that he was baffled. There's no sign of flu or any other abnormality in the blood, although they've noticed that the white cell count is up and down like a fiddlers elbow. During the scans they've found a shadow on her liver, but when they've gone to zap it it's disappeared. The same thing happened when they noticed an embrasure on her kidney and the same again with one of her lungs. Almost like there's something moving around and trying to latch on but it can't. Wierd:crazy:

My sis had nearly 2 yrs off work with a mystery feeling bad/tired bug after having flu.All sorts of crap appeared but nothing definite as a illness. They put it down to some sort of reaction to the flu and nothing better, she couldnt get out of bed for days somtimes.

That was a few years ago and shes ok now, there is some syndrome now that they pin it down to but really they dont know what causes it.

Best of luck and hopefully its nothing worse that that.

Sorry, couldnt help myself. Does sound like a case for House MD tho'. Some things like this will just pass over, hopefully.

Lol that was funny as hell Ham. Ive never heard of such a thing but it sounds bad. Like she has something literaly inside of her lol.

That's what I suggested.

But she didn't take too kindly to having a Windows XP CD jammed in her gob:D

I also said maybe it's a little alien. It'll pop out around tea-time and go "Bleeeeeaarrrrrrrrr"

When we called the ambulance at 9:00pm on Wednesday we phoned her x hubby to come and take the kids. When he turned up he shouts "What the f'in hell do you want me to do with 'em? She's only got the f'in flu." I was like

(Still am really.) Then to top it off he only goes and dumps the poor b@st@rds back on the doorstep at 5:30 the next morning then pi**es off to work and leaves 'em to fend for themselves.

I never mentioned what to do with them, that was all in your head!! :p

Cant remember what film it's of, think its scary movie or something like that.

certainly would make him run for his life though :p

My friend had something similar and she's recovering now :)

One of my other friends from Uni (only 21) had a strange illness thing and NO doctors in the world (literally her parents flew her to 5 different countries) knew what it was

She died 2 years ago.

That's a shame :( I would like to see some statistics showing how many people actually die each year from un-diagnosed illnesses

I hope she gets better soon, and the figure out what is going on.

I would also like to see some statistics on how many people are misdiagnosed.

Some of those symptoms are there NickS, but she doesn't have the rash. Her skin is more of a yellowish grey than anything. Might be going to see her today, got another fistfull of cards to take to her.

Her boys are ok, they're staying over at their nannas, so I'll be seeing them today when I go over for lunch.

I've not seen him yet, but I'm not the only one in town who would like to, specially on a dark night.
