Razer to pay $1.1 million over false claims for their "N95-grade" Zephyr face mask

1.1million is nothing in this industry. Sometimes I wonder whats the point in fining big companies that burn this amount like its a company expense.

All of these masks were pretty much just placebos any way, The spaces that let air in even in masks with filters are bigger than the covid virus.

There was a virologist on TV who explained this in an interview during the pandemic and he said masks are nothing but a feel good factor, If you want true protection you need a clean room hermetically sealed hazmat suit, Of course people just looked at him with glazed over eyes :yelrotflmao:

Meanwhile true, it also both shows and marks Razer with false advertisement. Not only by the product itself being false advertised, but especially when it comes to human lives and their healths. That's a whole different level if say something like the 970 3.5GB Vram scandal.

I find this extremely worse and highly more false, wrong, immoral and really sunk Razer's reputation.

Like honestly selling an product, that they literally ONLY made to cash in on people during an period which the world was in horror, and then to also lie about it's capabilites and hence protection to said disease/horror? Nahh... that's completely different from just a fine.

And sure, other companies did this as well, like masks, disinfections of different sorts. Although those already did these kind of products in the first place. They weren't an technology/gaming company from the beginning, being in an entirely different industry alltogheter.

Razer was alraedy low on my list, this just made me lose all respect for them and now even makes me sick just thinking of them honestly.

But agree with you, honestly first thought, before had even clicked into the thread itself, that it said in the lines of "Razer to pay $1.1 billion..." but then thought "nah, probably just an small amount as ususal...", and yes, just an patethic million for them.

I too thought 1.1billion when I saw the snipped headline. however...

Not a single main stream casual gamer will be remotely aware of this. Its only tech heads that read forums and articles. 1.1million will not damage their reputation in any way

Plus the fact that its tied to a ridiculous nonsensical product that almost no one bought anyway.

If someone is on the lookout for new peripherals and they see Razers. This slap on the wrist won't change anything. I for one wouldn't change my mind about purchasing from them. Personally, I would question the mind of anyone who bought the product to begin with.

True and fair points. Meanwhile I do agree with you, I still also stand by my previous post :)

The whole mask thing was a farce anyways. The fools that bought into those useless things and this useless thing in particular are now getting what they deserve for their stupidity. :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao:

I may have interpreted this incorrectly here, but from reading this I understand it as you're saying that people who bought into masks during the pandemic are now getting what they deserve?

So essentially people who may have gotten long term effects from the virus, even if they used masks, deserve it due to their stupidity?... I certainly hope that that's not what you're saying here.

Since I used medical masks to protect my family due to medical reasons. I also know people around that unfortunately and tragically lost their loved ones from the pandemic, so this kinda offends me to be completely honest here.

Just pointing this out, that even though it may not be what is meant, the choice of words may have been lacking here.

I dont think he thought his comments through at all. Thats exactly how I read it too. People deserve to have fallen ill for being stupid enough to use a mask and try to prevent spread? hmm thats either pure hate towards people, or pure stupidity in itself. He surely couldnt have meant that.

Thanks for the clarification bud, glad I'm not the only one that read their post in that regard...

Although completely agree with you, that they surely couldn't have meant it that way. Well said regarding pure stupidity in itself.

As that is just utterly cold, plain offensive and disrespectful towards those who got effected by the pandemic in any way, especially those who lost loved ones.

Although judging by their own signature, it doesn't make me much more comfortable...

My opinions are my own. I do NOT care what you think of them and I will post them freely. If you do not like it...tough. :D

Just let it go. It will derail the topic for all the wrong reasons.

Seeing this product, actually reminded my of the other terrible design which apparently worked...

Dyson created some headphone air purifier product. As ridiculous as it looked, I recall it actually did purify the air you breath but battery life was awful. Seemed that it was perfect for flights if you could put up with the odd looks from people :D

During the whole thing, sure it was not stupid to most to wear one. In hindsight it was stupid because they did not work. That's just a general comment I'm making about masks. Maybe he meant in hindsight I'm not sure

However for this specific product, I would have to agree it was indeed stupid to purchase one. They are claiming a known standard but had no proof of it reaching that status. This is just a corporation milking consumers. If this was his opinion solely about this product then I would agree with him.

Now as you show Warchild, something like that that actually purifies air? That's a reasonable purchase.

This is the least of the COVID-19 bollocks. N-95 grade masks were just more expensive theatre. If you bought into it; more fool you.
