Ram upgrade issues

Hello, I recently bought some corsair value select 8GB 1066Mhz for my acer aspire 5810t. When i upgraded from the original 4GB i noticed a huge performance decrease. it also has an SSD and worked fine with the original ram. Why could this be happening?

was the original ram 1066mhz? if it was 1333mhz or above then it will downclock to the slowest speed.

Yer it was 1066, thats the bit I don't get.

Erm whats the stick config? like is it 2x4 gb sticks or? it may not be running in dual channel if its 3 sticks or something like that.

Its 2 4gb sticks but i can't finding anything in the bios that relates to the memory settings.
