Does your laptop actually say it supports 1666?
Sometimes manufactures only allow you to upgrade at the time of purchase, or so i've read.

It's sort of a complicated to explain... Just forget about it

Edit: just get 1600mhz?

well the whole issue seems to be that the guy had 1333 ram and now replaced it with 1600 ram and it wont boot anymore.
someone told him to downclock it to 1333 but for some reason the guy tried 1666 or something like that? not sure.

anyways, put the old ram back in, if it boots that means you didnt ruin anything else. my guess would be because it is a laptop the bios is locked, so we wont be able to adjust the ram multiplier. i.e. return the ram and get 1333 mhz ram. it's cheaper and wont make any difference in a laptop.

when RAM is replaced, the default should be BIOS setup. this will allow to see
that the BIOS picked up that there was a change made and are they correct.

what are the laptop specs?

i will not get it cheap if I buy 1333MHz as I only pay £37 for 8GB corsair Vengeance 1600MHz

It's from intels specs sheet. You can call them and tell them they're wrong if you think it will work. I'm just relaying their information.

Your memory may have downclocked itself to work. Download CPU-Z to verify.
