ram-motherboard compatibilty

I've got rather an old system that I'm upgrading, bit by bit. I next want to upgrade the ram, but I don't know if the ram I want will work well/at all with my motherboard.

I'm thinking of buying either

http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Memory+-+RAM/DDR3/Dual+Channel+-+%282133MHz%29/8GB+Mushkin+Enhanced+Blackline+Frostbyte+%23997015+%282x4GB%29+2133+%28PC3-17066%29+240-Pin+DDR3+SDRAM+CAS+10-11-10-28+1.5V+?productId=45905

or

http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Memory+-+RAM/DDR3/Quad+Channel+-+%281600MHz%29/16GB+Mushkin+Enhanced+Blackline+Frostbyte+LV+%23993988+%284x4GB%29+1600+%28PC3-12800%29+240-Pin+DDR3+SDRAM+CAS+9-9-9-24+1.35V+?productId=47295

and my motherboard is this

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3/M4A78LTM/#specifications

I've looked the qualified vendor list, and mushkin doesn't appear at all. Does this mean that no mushkin memory can run on this board??

Cheers guys much appreciated .

Actually I'm a 3d artist and I'm always running out of ram (currently 8gb) but I do have a question about the effect of ram speed on rendering times, if you care to venture an opinion...

why such overkill?

this is just a tiny matx, id go with just some kingston hyperx genesis, 8gigs for something like 40 ish quid

besides neither will work without underclocking them as your mobo only supports nativly 1333mhz and both are 1600, whihc if the mobo is good enough it might do by itself or it just wont boot at all

if you want to upgrade bit by bit start with mobo(or case if you dont have a decent one), then psu, ram, cpu, hdd, dvd, cables(sleevesetc.),lights

Well I'm going for the 16gb because I'm a 3d artist and volume of ram is of primary importance (I'm always running out with 8gb).

In terms of the speed, well, my plan is to switch to intel later in the year, either the 3770K or 3930k. (Unless piledriver is a massive step forward). So with that in mind I want to try and get ram that would work well on the later system.

Any thoughts on my approach?
