Raid Card problems

was going to buy one of this blokes 6 slot raid cards :HERE:

Untill I found out they have a max capacity of 2tb.

So what I need is helping finding a resonalbly priced 6 port minimum raid card with the abilty to run a 1tb drive in each slot - also happily manage a raid5 array.

Want it to be reliable and cope but done want a gold plated one.

Motherboard does have a pcix64 btw ;) and the drives are 6x 1tb Samsung F1's

now are the cards

2tb max per drive

2tb max per array

or 2tb per 'logical drive'

do you think its possible to have all 6 in raid 5 then partition it off to 2tb chunks?

If I remember I'll check the model of adaptec we use in the media backup servers. They were recently built with 1tb drives hanging off each port. They're on a special redhat brew, but that shouldn't matter.

Sure I heard they had problems with one card only allowing 750g drives per channel and they're boasting 6t on them atm, so that should have been worked around.

the adaptec on flea bay was 2tb total on the card max.

So Ive just bought a proper HP server SAS one with 8 ports, 512mb mem and a battery back up... Raid 6 here I come!
