rad position

Hi all,

I am at this time making a list of parts for a new dual loop setup in a new mountain mods case with more blow holes than you can shake a stick at, anyway, I want to mount one of the two P120.3 rads in the top of the case but this means that the res' will be lower than the rad ! Will this cause me any problems such as the water syphoning back and/ or filling up of the res.

Would choosing a res that can be fitted with a fill port mounted in the case lid help ??

Any help before spending ££££££ will be a big help.

I have a 360mm rad mounted on the top of my case with a res below it and didn't have any bother filling. I just had to keep topping up the res as the loop was filling. I thought that when it was all full, the water would overflow on the res if the lid was off but it doesn't. Should be good to go mate

Do you think then that the pump acts like a non return valve ??

Will any pump / res' work with no problems or do you need a special pump / res' with some sort of non return valve ?

Sorry it took me so long to reply, I have just used the bog standard pump and res without any special valves and it works fine

I have a few rads in my case and the res is sluck to the bottom on the case with the pump and I didnt have any problem what so ever, even when it is off the water doesnt rush into the res. Mind you I do have the Laing DDC res and I think because it has a large tube going deep into the res that helps prevent any water spewing all over the place. In short it should not be a problem with both my watercooling kits I have had the res low down without a problem

i think it doesnt matter where any of the components in the loop are due to some law of physics. i read it somewhere in some w/c guide, just cant remember where.

will be ok once bleeded you will just need to tilt it so the fluid runs into the pump
