r9 390x max temp

The 290x had a normal operating temperature of 95C, how is the 390x compared to that, is 95C within normal range or how high can i safely push the card?

It's the same basic board and architecture but with faster memory, so temperature limits will be similar. Some reviews have had the card hitting 80°C when heavily overclocked and that seems to be okay.

My Asus r9 390x dc3 is reaching 85c without overclock

The 290x and 390x CAN operate at 95c safely, whether or not you would actually want it to is what matters here.

But honestly 95c is tops, anything over that is simply not necessary. Or indicates a problem with either the cooler or design.

It could be a driver issue as WYP has just reported on the forums matey what are your fans running at?.
