Samsung and SK Hynix reportedly investing billions to boost memory supply

According to a report from The Korea Times, this combined investment from Samsung and SK Hynix will see semiconductor plants expanded over the next year. This means both companies will be able to make larger quantities of DRAM and other chips, which will hopefully lead to a bigger boost in supplies later this year, and deflate prices, which have boomed over the last year.

Complete nonsense as they are almost certainly artificially keeping the stock low and most definitely giving most to the server side of things. Consumers, let alone gamers, are but an insignificant drop in the ocean from their perspective.

If so ouch, that's on me!

Checked twitter and looks legit to me.

https://twitter.com/ASUS_AREZ

Note that the top banner is pixelated and that neither of the images uses the brand's official font. Look at the images in our AREZ reveal article below.

https://www.overclock3d.net/news/gp...-exclusive_arez_sub-brand_-_releases_in_may/1

ASUS has not tweeted about the existence of this Twitter account on any of their other pages, another huge sign that this isn't legit. Will see if I can get some info from ASUS tomorrow and see whats up with AREZ.

Update - Looks like more sites have started to peddle this nonsense. Seems like Anandtech has deleted their article on it.

https://www.anandtech.com/show/12788/asus-retires-radeon-arez-brand (now redirects to their front page)

Update 2 - We have contacted ASUS and they have confirmed that the @ASUS_AREZ Twitter account is fake.

Talk to an alien about the end of the world in Quarantine Circular, out now from Mike Bithell

Mike Bithell’s Quarantine Circular is out now. If you’re wondering why you haven’t heard of the game, that might be because it was announced roughly five minutes before it launched. It’s an experimental launch for an experimental game, where you chat up fellow scientists and an alien in the shadow of a pandemic that threatens to end the world.

Billed as a “one-sitting game for adults,” the developers are up front about the fact that you’ll finish the game in about two hours, just as with its predecessor. “We’re so grateful to the community for the low rate of refunds on our previous short, Subsurface Circular. We hope Quarantine will earn the same. Our games are made by a team of hardworking people, and it’s encouraging that the Steam community consistently shows respect for this passion and effort.”

Might a fun small endeavor.

I know I said I'd like less time between announcements and release but 5 mins is a bit on the short side :p

Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Don’t Dry is a real game that’s coming this year

Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Don’t Dry is a real game, which really exists, and will really come out this year - assuming the release schedule holds. Larry’s latest is a traditional point-and-click adventure with hand-drawn art, which will see him thrust out of the '80s and straight into the modern world.

The Steam page comes complete with a description of the game straight from Larry’s perspective: “While my view of the world and women from way back in the 1980s collides with modern reality harder than the breasts of a lusciously stacked blonde jogging along a beach, I’m all set to date my way across the modern world!” So, yes, it’s definitely a Leisure Suit Larry game.

Had to post this as I remember playing this as a kid - much to mum's dismay he he...

Nothing beats the original one. Especially the unsolicited yet censored pixelated scene i will not describe due to minors reading here. :D Took a new direction on rpg adventures before point and click even began.

Good find! :D

Ahh man. I'd forgotten he had cancer. I was gutted when he announced it a few years ago and when his treatment failed to work. He really was a wonderful presenter. I miss his deep dives.

I don't want to go like that. I just don't. That is why I always keep a box of diazepam to one side. Poor sod :( my uncle went the same way. Told him at first it was acid reflux, then six months later he was dead. I couldn't go see him for the last two months. It would have been too traumatic for me and would have caused me damage.

I've got his funeral brochure up on my microwave with his pic on. I talk to him when I am cooking.

But yeah if I end up with terminal cancer there is no way I am sticking around for the conclusion. What a truly horrid way to go, knowing it is coming :(

God bless the guy. I hope he's up there in heaven now resting.

Yeah, I can understand why it would be so frightening.

I know this is a very sensitive subject, and I mean no disrespect. This is just my thoughts. I don't have a good mind and have dealt with suicidal thoughts all my adult life, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Anyway, I might actually find it peaceful. I'd know it was coming and I'd try to embrace it; live the remainder of my life to the best of my ability. There is nothing you can do to stop it so just accept it. It's a way out that allows for your family and friends to adjust over a few months and to say goodbye.

My German Grandfather was in charge of all power stations in west Berlin for over 20 years, There was an accident 1 day and he got a full blast of radiation, Not sure how as I didn't get those details, But yeah he faded pretty quick, He had cancer in every organ by the end and in immense pain.

Not a good way to go.

Yeah this is very true. I guess you don't know what it is actually like until it happens to you. Kinda reminds me of the line from a Steven Seagal movie.

Global DRAM bit demand to increase 22% in 2018, says Nanya chairman

Growth in DRAM bit demand will outpace bit supply growth in 2018, according to Wu Chia-chau, chairman for chipmaker Nanya Technology.

DRAM bit demand is expected to increase 22% in 2018, while growth in the bit supply will reach 21%, said Wu.

Nanya will enjoy another year of business growth in 2018, Wu noted. The DRAM chipmaker saw its net profits climb to a record high of NT$40.29 billion (US$1.38 billion) in 2017, with EPS also hitting a record high of NT$14.36.
