Have to say it's good to see that AMD have admitted that Bulldozer wasn't very good, and that they actually want to compete with Intel again.

Hopefully this will mean that, Intel might have some competition at the high end or enthusiast level.

I know I will keep a eye on this.

Nice find fella, glad to see I was right in calling the next iteration of cpus from AMD finfet in design, let's hope for ddr4 to go along with that too. I want me some Zen goodness
 
Some X99 motherboards have issues apparently. 2 reviewers and apparently more users have reported some rather catastrophic hardware failures.

"Intel's Haswell-E Eight-Core CPU and X99 motherboards just debuted but it looks like there may be some early adoption troubles leading to the new, ultra-expensive X99 motherboards and processors burning up. Phoronix first ran a story about their X99 motherboard having a small flame and smoke when powering up for the first time and then Legit Reviews also ran an article about their motherboard going up in smoke for reasons unknown. The RAM, X99 motherboards, and power supplies were different in these two cases. Manufacturers are now investigating and in at least the case of LR their Core i7-5960X also fried in the process."

Damn, you would be gutted if you just spent £1400 on a motherboard and CPU only to have it blow up on you the first time you press the on switch :(

Hopefully it is just a small faulty batch of motherboards causing probs.

That's pretty damn rough indeed!

Teething problems with new hardware, particularly graphics cards is quite common. I guess it's just best to avoid bleeding edge new hardware for a while after it's released.
 
iPhone 6 and 6 plus will only have 1GB ram. What was apple thinking!

Apple made a big deal of the number of transistors in the latest A8 chipset at the announcement event. Now we're sure it will run things smooth on the new Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus even if its GPU may not bring gaming graphics to the next level. Now however we learn the two devices won't be the multitasking monsters you might expect - according to early reviews of the devices both share the same limited 1GB of RAM.
That sounds logical given they both use the exact same chipset - the Apple A8 but some rumors had it that the bigger iPhone 6 Plus will have more RAM.

EVGA GTX 970 with ACX cooler has misaligned heatpipes on the GPU. They have tried to talk their a** out of it but it isn't fooling the population at all.

"The way the EVGA GTX 970 ACX heat sink was designed is based on the GTX 970 wattage plus an additional 40% cooling headroom on top of it. There are 3 heat pipes on the heatsink – 2 x 8mm major heat pipes to distribute the majority of the heat from the GPU to the heatsink, and a 3rd 6mm heatpipe is used as a supplement to the design to reduce another 2-3 degrees Celsius. Also we would like to mention that the cooler passed NVIDIA Greenlight specifications.

Due to the GPU small die size, we intended for the GPU to contact two major heat pipes with direct touch to make the best heat dissipation without any other material in between.

We all know the Maxwell GPU is an extremely power efficient GPU, our SC cooler was overbuilt for it and allowed us to provide cards with boost clocks at over 1300MHz. EVGA also has an “FTW” version for those users who want even higher clocks.

Regarding fan noise, we understand that some have expressed concerns over the fan noise on the EVGA GTX 970 cards, this is not a fan noise issue but it is more of an aggressive fan curve set by the default BIOS. The fan curve can be easily adjusted in EVGA PrecisionX or any other overclocking software. Regardless, we have heard the concerns and will provide a BIOS update to reduce the fan noise during idle.

I really would like to know how loud the pump is though, I'd near consider adding one to my rig to add extra pump power.

Honestly? its OK. it looks nice however its not suited to cool my i7 in my case (which to be fair is pretty much worse case scenario airflow wise) and my i7 @4ghz/1.075v gets up to 80c with an aggressive fan profile.
