Quick News

Was just in Discord with a few peeps and every one of us within a few hours of eachother had the Microsoft Edge icon appear on the desktop, Others online are also reporting the same thing.

Microsoft being very aggressive pushing their browser.

Dying Light 2 has also just been updated to support DLSS3/FG, Reflex etc... and the devs have removed Denuvo.

https://dyinglightgame.com/news/update-1-9-0/

Is is likely DLSS 3 will be enabled for the 30 series? Or is this prevented by hardware restrictions?

If Nvidia do enable it, It will be a tiny uplift in performance, Maybe even a regression.

An Nvidia engineer on either Reddit or Twitter, Can't remember which, Explained it like this...

The optical flow accelerator in Ada is 3+ times faster/more powerful than the OFA inside Ampere and even with that huge uplift in performance as well as using Reflex to reduce latency, Frame generation still introduces a substantial amount of latency so subtract the 3x performance improvement of Ada's OFA and then add much higher latency and much much lower "FPS" gain for an Ampere GPU, The overall performance would be terrible.

Maybe they could do something small but it will likely be a ways off as with this scenario they are for once hardware restricted.

So this implies enabling Reflex causes additional latency when used with DLSS. Which means many games actually are not getting the benefit of Reflex.

Patch 4.01 for The Witcher 3 is now available, Just small things, Nothing really notable.

PC

  • Fixed an issue where the Screen Space Reflections setting wasn't working on PC despite being turned on. Players who had previously set their SSR setting to high may notice a performance impact.
  • Added a new performance mode for ray-traced global illumination, which can be toggled by players with compatible hardware. It improves frame rate by prioritizing performance over range and precision.
QUESTS & GAMEPLAY

  • Battle Preparations - Fixed an issue where it could be impossible to interact with Avallac'h during the objective "Let Avallac'h know everything's ready."
  • Family Matters - Fixed an issue that could cause the game to crash during the transition to Ciri's Story: Out of the Shadows when speaking to the Bloody Baron.
  • King's Gambit - Fixed an issue where it could be impossible to participate in the fistfight with the second Vildkaarl due to an invisible obstacle.
  • Wine Wars: Belgaard - Added a retrofix for the issue we fixed in 4.00, where the quest couldn't be completed if the player destroyed one of the required monster nests during exploration.
  • A Dangerous Game - The armor in Caesar's room should now change its appearance when the Alternate Nilfgaardian Armor is turned on.
  • Axii Puppet - Increased the health and damage dealt by the puppet.
  • Adrenaline Rush mutation should now work according to its description.
  • Various small fixes to quests and cutscenes.
LOCALIZATION

  • Fixed various issues with Arabic localization.
  • Added the localized versions of Orianna's song "Lullaby of Woe" in Korean and Simplified Chinese.
  • Adjusted Priscilla's lip-sync animation to match her voice-over in Simplified Chinese during the song "The Wolven Storm".

So this implies enabling Reflex causes additional latency when used with DLSS. Which means many games actually are not getting the benefit of Reflex.

Reflex in no way adds latency, Frame Generation adds latency, Reflex which is turned on by default when enabling Frame Generation just helps to lower the additional latency a little.

As the RT reflections and RT ambient occlusion are kind of so-so in Hogwarts there is a handy little tweak guide that drastically improves both.

Not mine, I found it on Reddit.

I fiddled around with some UE4 RT Settings and got quite a nice result. It's a big performance hit tho so use cautiously.

Here are some results:

Shadows: https://imgsli.com/MTUzNTEx/1/2

Reflections: https://imgsli.com/MTUzNTEy

Ambient Occlusion: https://imgsli.com/MTUzNTEz/1/2
To get the changes just paste the following inside your "Engine.ini" found in "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Hogwarts Legacy\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor":
[SystemSettings]
r.RayTracing.Reflections.ScreenPercentage=100
r.RayTracing.Reflections.SamplesPerPixel=1
r.RayTracing.Reflections.MaxRoughness=0.7
r.RayTracing.AmbientOcclusion.Intensity=1

Edit:

It seems like disabling the culling is a bad idea performance wise. You'll just loose the distant shadows. No idea how to extend range without just disabling culling entirely. r.RayTracing.Culling.Radius = XXX does nothing.

According to 1 of the forum members over at GOG who was talking with a github dev that's worked on the game launcher integrations said apparently CDPR/GOG want to get rid of GOG Galaxy which would royally suck.

How much truth there is to this I don't know but it would be interesting to get some clarification from CDPR/GOG.

Could be they just sell it off, I dont see it going away.
