Quick News

I enjoy them but the last true AC was Syndicate. It's turned into RPG semi fantasy. I want it to go back to the roots. The RPG elements can make sense but as of now it's just used for grinding and forcing you to play a certain way. Games are still fun but I'm afraid with something like a service model, it'll turn more into RPG and less lore. They already did with Valhalla. It'll sell better but be less AC like.

Again it's still fun. But as you said it'll be for what sells. And that's not what I'm interested in. I want a full $60 worth of 100 hour gameplay and they are definitely not going to have enough time in a service model for that. Probably be expansion/large DLC releases every handful of months. Doesn't sound as appealing.

I think if it was a substitute for in-between the large single game releases that could work. Have the main game be the massive historical moments and then work on the next one, in-between can be expansions and DLC that can be full of ideas and or other time frames.

That sounds like the best balance for sure. Ubisoft wanted to add to the lore with the film. That didn't end very well even with some incredible talent behind it, so maybe they're done with world building and just want a constant influx of 'easy' money.

AMD's next top end GPU featuring RDNA3, The 7900XT, Could be based on a chiplet like design, Going from the current core count of just under 6000 to in the region of 15,000 stream processors, Along with the improvements that RDNA3 brings this thing would be an absolute monster.

Seems like the infamous Joy-Con Drift issue can be permanently fixed and people have just found out how... with recycle bin parts...

Skip to 5:55 for the actual fix.

An interesting counterpoint to this video. Ifixit tested the fix.

TLDR, the fix works for some types of drift but not fully. The fix can also put pressure on your joy con battery, which is not ideal.

I am not normally a fan of ROG gimmicks,

This however is genius as there are so many of us with ROG monitors that detest the size and bulk of the stands,

Now while most of us can buy a cheap gas arm etc. That is not the case for some of us with heavier screens. I think I will actually get this as I am stuck with the default stand. Furthermore gas arms on the desk always look offset and never centered.

Researchers bypassed tpm and got the encryption key. In 30 minutes with little trouble and commonly available tools.

How? Well board makers are cheap. They send the information over unencrypted lanes which makes it easily readable.

They need physical access to the device, but point is there needs to be improvements from board makers and on the software side to ensure information that is supposed to be encrypted stays encrypted on it's entire pathway.

This hasn't got much to do with cheaping out on anything tbf, there's nothing board manufacturers can do to suddenly make the SPI or i2c protocols secure, it's just an issue with how TPM works by design in the vast majority of setups, one simple solution is to just use the encrypted parameter feature of TPM modules so the important data is encrypted before it goes into the SPI or i2c lines.

Its quick news tgrech, not really the place to dispute or discuss. Make a thread instead.

*edit Perhaps moderators should delete all discussions, replies and such that are not quick news per se in future, without explanation. Including this message :)

I don't think the Quick point I added to the news warrants a new thread tbh, but ill add it there if one appears

Another forum I frequent has a similar thread, but it's for deals. There's two:

Deals (No discussion)
Deals (Discussion)

Maybe similar system could work here? Since relevant news would fade away eventually.

Take with a grain of salt as it comes from a "leaker".

Apparently Blizzard is being renamed and many staff will be fired, WoW is being put into maintenance mode so no new expansions ever, A new "WoW 2.0" is in the works with a brand new team, Overwatch 2 has been cancelled.

Goodness, that is a huge change if true. I don't see overwatch 2 getting cancelled though. It is too deep in development.

Things are a mess with Activision Blizzard though.

So was project Titan, which was intended to be the new MMO. This cancelled project was stripped down and became what overwatch is today. So I would never put a sure bet on the outcome. Given the dire straits right now, anything is possible.

Maybe they will gut the company and start a new. They certainly have the finances to recover in that way.
