I feel Like an idiot for asking but those of you running a matx motherboard specially intel users, do you have the option in your bios to boot into another hard drive?

If so what motherboard are you using?

Reason Im asking my itx board does not allow this meaning if I want to switch os I have to unplug 1 hard drive than onto another just to switch os.

Yes I could duel boot on 1 hard drive but there's 101 reason why I cant.

This is very unheard of these days. What board is it?

well the itx board Im currently using is a gigabyte ga h61 itx, went thru the bios and has the usual ways of booting but no option to choose a second hd weird since my gigabyte e350 has a + next to hdd when a second hdd is plugged.

But I am looking for a maxt board now for a new build I just wanted to make sure that my gigabyte board was just a 1 off.

As a wild guess I would say it's a one off! I haven't seen a motherboard in years which doesn't have a boot device menu (this includes laptops as well).

It has a boot menu can choose every thing from usb to internet but no option for a second hdd :/

Ah, I see what you mean. So it just has the option for Hard Drive but not the choice of which. Bugger!

I'd recommend Asus as you know you'll always get a decent boot menu.

Some boards only specify hard drive in the main boot order page. Then there is another setting on a different page, something like "Hard drive boot order" that lets you pick the hard drive you want.

Asus is your best bet for sure. When you enter the Asus bios there's a small bar at the bottom which lists all your storage devices, it's a really good system.

Btw are you sure there isn't a place in the bios where you can set the boot drive? I've never heard of new-ish board that doesn't allow you to

well if I press f12 before it boots takes me to the boot menu and you can flick between what option but lets say I wanna boot it into usb every time I start the pc it wont allow me no way you can save it so I gotta keep pressing f12 and choose the option.

so as you can see this mobo can be a pain in the ar*se

Is it possible that the BIOS lists "HDD Boot Order" as a separate option to the part where you're choosing between HDD, optical, etc?
