this maybe the daftest question but ive been thinkin it for a while and in theory it should qork as i think.

if a baught another set of speakers that were exactly the same would i get in theory double the sound,or if say i bought some with a little extra power and just got a 3.5mm splitter jack from maplins

No, you'd get the same 'amount' of sound. The power would be split between the two sets of speakers.

Given that they are passive and driven off the same port.

ahhhh cheers mate,so no double sound,is there anyway of doin it,also connecting hifi speakers to my comp

Yes, you need an amp to connect to the PC and then connect the speakers to the amp. Don't expect it to be cheap though. Your best bet is second hand. I just got a Cambridge Audio A1 and a set of Tannoy Mercury F1 customs and now my sound is the dogs danglies compared to the rubbish creative 5.1 set I had before.

Get an amp that is capable of outputting twice the power that the sound card can. Or active speakers (amp built in).

Both new from richersounds. Couldn't be bothered to wait for the second hand stuff I wanted to come up for sale, and they were so cheap anyway I just went for it. I think it was about £160 for both, around £80 each.

cool, yer i was checking there deals and i think it was the same price but some warfdale diamond's but the same amp,so were they worth the purchase are they loud bassy and clear?

I'd say they're excellent, but I don't have anything to compare them to except old PC speakers and what I've heard from mates with amps etc, so perhaps it'd be better to ask someone who has heard more combinations.

Either way though, all the reviews for my speakers are very positive, I haven't seen anyone with a bad word to say about them, which is why they were my choice. The wharfedales are probably not bad either.
