Hello guys

I'm not sure if it's my PSU that doesn't work or something else.

I got a RM650W

So I built my system, plugged everything in and tried to turn it on, but nothign happend but a sound of a "click" from the PSU. I do have lights on the motherboard and my GPU but my computer wont start up, it just says the click sound and then nothing happens.
Please help me!

Have you plugged in the 4 / 8 pin CPU power connector in?

That also happens when you are trying to drain more power from the PSU than it can handle, although it will sometimes post.

Also check that you are not shorting out on the back of the motherboard by removing it from case and powering it up outside of the case.

What hardware have you got apart from the RM650?

How old is the RM650?

I've plugged the CPU power connecter in, yearh. I think it's an 8 pin.

I have a 4790k
780
8gb ram
ssd
hdd
h105

and all my gear is brand new.

Since the motherboard and gpu is receiving power I doubt its the PSU's fault. Have you checked for any cable damage? or perhaps they arent connected securely/properly. As above your specs would help, as that way it would at least be possible to estimate your power requirements.

Sorry my post came in a tad late, anyways try checking for any loose or damaged cables, or perhaps reseat everything, as it could be something in the system causing a short or similar.

I got 2 different sets of cables (I'm using sleeved cables right now) But still doesn't work. I'm trying to check a few cables now and trying to replace the CPU cable with something else

Then best thing you can do is remove motherboard from case and try running it outside of it, this will let you know if it is shorting out on something.

Can you test the PSU on another machine?

If that fails, then one other possibility remains in my mind, you have managed to bend a pin in the CPU socket whilst building it. (I hope I am wrong about that), but first try motherboard outside of case with the least amount of things possible plugged in, so 1 stick of ram, use the onboard graphics, no hard drives connected, you only need to see if it posts / can go into the bios, then add things one item at a time till you get to put motherboard back inside case, that way you will then highlight what and where the issue is.

well from your specs it looks like your PSU is more than enough so thats out the window. Might do some good reseating everything and checking the CPU pins etc just to be safe.

Nvm 'youwhat' has got it in the bag :) Best of luck.

Update! Everything out and I got it started up. I'm slowly putting stuff back in. thanks man! I love you!

Glad to hear you got this sorted, I had a similar issue by putting the front panel headers on the wrong pins, turns out you can't switch on by the reset switch.. ha ha who knew. it's always the small things.
