Hi.

Im in the process of learning to do custom wire, so fare i've been ordering over seas but to cut down cost i wanna start ordering locally.

I know i need 16AWG, 18AWG and 22AWG but my question is what kind of cable are i looking for?.

Multiconductor Unshielded, Multipaired Shielded, Multipaired Unshielded, Ribbon Unshielded etc.

Thanks for any answer i can get=)
Have a great day.

I am currently sleeving my power cables, and I am just re-using the cables that came with my PSU. I only want to shorten them and sleeve them so I figured why not use the cables that are already there.

i wanna do Custom length of all the cables except Sata-Data so sleeving stock wire wont do it for me.

Thanks Paulstung=).

Don't know how I missed this thread, being the Cable Guy and everything.

The suitable AWG (American Wiring Guide) for PSU extensions are as follows.

24pin - 18AWG
8pin EPS- 18AWG
4pin EPS- 18AWG
8pin PCIE- 18AWG
6pin PCIE- 18AWG
6+2pin PCIE- 18AWG
6pin AUX- 18AWG

You can of cause use 16AWG cable if your doing shorter sub 30cm runs, like the extensions that Lutro0 sell but these look thiner and in my opinion cheaper.

If you need more help and pin outs take a gander at our stickied guide.

I am a fan of lutro0's thin insulation 16 gauge wire he puts out. for 8 pin and 24 pin.

It is probably un-needed, but it works good for me.
