I've been doing a lot of work in the garage these past few days and I have got a video sussed for your enjoyment.
The latest video continues the roof panel modding which was started in Worklog #6 - Roof Panel Modding. There is a little refresher about what went on at the beginning of the new one to remind you what went on.
Currently the case is undergoing leak-testing again *yawn* to double and triple check the res and the rad don't leak. I don't want to wake up underwater thank you very much.
I still have the side panels to mod so I can't just sit back and relax just yet. I am still deciding on whether to upgrade to i7 or to continue using my q6600. Anyone done the deed and give any advice?
just watched the vid mate awsome stuff its really lookin great! i should send my 700d down for some craig's mod loving
ive just recently went from a q6600 > an i7 920 there is a difference there but at first u dont notice it much after that but when u do go back onto a q6600 u do notice it a lot but its all dependant on what u want to spend/think u need the extra grunt cause with a decent gpu mate its gonna handle any game u throw at it without much fuss
I'd be keeping the GTX275 I already own which does me fine, I'm doing more video editing now (not just for this project) and finding the rendering takes a while..but then it is 1080p so I guess it would.
Other uses are Virtual Machines and a bit of gaming, both of which seem to be fine at the moment. Maybe it would just be upgrading for upgrades sake. All I know is that I'd be going from a q6600 at 3.6 to a i7 950 (for instance) at over 4ghz and 4gb of RAM to probably 8gb.
well for rendering there's progs out there that use the gpu for that which is much better than the cpu, but the i7 would be muchhhhh better at it than the q6600 cause of its 4 core and 4 threads
as for gamin man what u have will cope with it no problem and ram wise it would be faster ddr3 1600mhz+ 6gb triple channel kits or 12gb that would help with rendering a lot
i did the same was lookin at high overclockin ram was neat 100 for 4gb where as i could get a 6gb triple channel kit then i would need a new cpu and mobo and i ended up gettin mines for £340
Yes thats right I've transplanted Monolith (I'll miss you buddy) into Toxicity.
I've done a little upgrade by picking up a OCZ Vertex 2 60Gb SSD and swapped the Q9450 from Redemption with the tired Q6600. Not had chance to overclock it yet as I'm still struggling to image my Win7 install onto the SSD, which is throwing my BootMGR missing all the time.
I've also got some lights rigged up for the res, but I'm still working on cable management at the moment so no decent photos or videos as yet. Awaiting shorter SATA leads for one as all mine seem to be 45cm or more
As for the rest of the mod, well I still have both side panels to finish off plus a few niggly bits.
For now here is a little sneak of what it looks like
stepster - is it possible to install win7 on the SSD and then do a full copy of the entire drive overwriting proggy files etc. or would i have to export and import the registry too?
I've ended up doing a fresh install which took forever but I've managed to get some time to do some modding so I'm beavering away at a new video update as I type.
Should I do a photoshoot of the internals now or wait for the project to be finished and do it all?
