Hey guys,
Welcome to Project: Overdefined
When I was at CeBIT, checking out all sorts of things. I saw a lot of awesome things, and got inspired to do something myself.
I'm going to build myself a completly new case, from scratch. I'm going to study design and product development next year so this is a good exercise I think.
anyway, I really like the design of the Ravens, FT02, Phantom, Z11. But The quality just isn't there. When I was at Lian-li, I was just mindblown by the level of detail and quality. So I decided to go full ally (really thick stuff) Just a normal atx or E-atx board, Front mounted psu, bottom intakes like the FT02, a lot of space behind the motherboard for drives and just make it really wide, long but also low.
Here's my first bit of sketches (I really, really can not draw on paper).
I hope your eyes are still ok after seeing this
.
next update coming soon when I start drawing on my pc
Started work on the backplane and bottom
Just a little update:
Time for a bit of an update:
The lovely people over at Be Quiet have decided to sponsor this build! Be Quiet will provide the PSU and all the fans used in this build.
Below you can see a render I had to abort a few times before, hence the very late update. Terribly sorry for that.
Look what the postman brought me:
After opening it:
Plenty of airbags there, here's a decent shot:
Picture of the fans:
As you can see, these are perfectly braided and come with screw and screw-less attachments. For some reasong you also get a molex to 12/7/5v converter, pretty useless as they make no noise at 12v, but maybe other people have better hearing
Here's the psu:
I wish they used the same braid as on the fans but they won't be visible in the case anyway. (They're not that bad eighter).
I overestimated the machines that can be used so I had to completly redo my work on the front and top
All I have left to do now is:
finish off the front and top
Choose hinges
make doors
re-measure everything
break the drawing down into indivudual parts
make assembly from those parts
find donor case
have case made+painted
build hardware into it
looking good ey ?
It was getting cold here, so I let the bulldozer render some more
