Hi all, so I have started the new build with the..

Cooler Master HAF912

Asus P8 Z68-V Pro

Corsair TX750 v2

Still to come..

Intel i7 2700K

WD 1TB 3.5" SATA-III 6Gb/s Caviar Black

Mushkin Redline Ridgeback 1600mhz (7-8-7-24)

MSI GeForce GTX 570 OC Twin FrozR III Power Edition (or 580 depending on finance)

Samsung SH-B123L/RSBP 12x BD-ROM

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

Noctua NH-D14 (this will be my last purchase as I want to wait and see if the new Noctua's will be out in time)

I'm in the process of taking some pics of the mobo and PSU already in the case, I will post them this evening.

I also have a few questions to ask, but I will add these in an update to this thread. This build was meant to be on a budget, but like NASA, that went out of the window at the earliest opportunity!!

Is this for gaming if so theres no point buying the i7 2600k go with a i5 2500k. Also why did you choose that mother board ?

I will use Aria for all my components as there are no shops anywhere near me that sell components. I don't count Maplin as they are way way to expensive.

I will be using two SSDs, one for the OS and one for Flight Simulator X. The Z68 series mobos were designed for the second generation Intel CPUs. The P67 boards had some problems with recognising SSD's properly as well with the SATA 6 GB/s interface.

The reason for the 2600K is that Flight Simulator X is a memory sub system nightmare, and it really appreciates the extra 2MB of Cache over the 2500K. It actually makes quite a difference.

I had no intention of playing any games on my new build, as it is being built around FSX, although saying this, after watching TTL on YouTube playing Crysis etc, it makes me want to play a few of these games.

Pics are on their way.

Damn. Spotted you're in Maidenhead, and hoped you had a hidden gem in the way of a shop.

I'm in Slough. Same problem.

LOL mate.

We did have Overclock.co.uk on the Slough Trading estate, but they moved up north. Maplins and PC World are our closest shops but no chance I would use either of them!!

Also unless your after that extra 0.25 gbs of ddr5 video memory an overclocked gtx 570 come pretty close to a gtx 580. Also I assume your going for 8gb of redline ?

Yes will be going for the 8GB Redline (7-8-7-24). The GPU will be the last thing I buy, but I am still not sure whether to go 570 or 580? I know if I get the 570 I will hate myself for not waiting another week to save the money for the 580 lol. I'm really hoping the price goes down on the 580 over the next few months, it will make my purchase easier to make.

Buying the i7 at the weekend, the following week will be the 1TB Black and the Mushkin Redline 8GB (7-8-7-24). The following week will be the W7 64bit HP.

I am then going to wait and save for the GPU, while using the onboard graphics. I also want the new Noctua's to hurry up and be released

I'll update at the weekend.

OK, I just bought the Mushkin Redline Ridgeback 8GB (7-8-7-24) and an OCZ 60GB Agility 3 SSD - SATA-III - Read 525MB/s Write 475MB/s.

I was just about to push the buy it now button on a WD Black 1TB but the extra £25 shouted at me to spend it on an SSD.

Hope I made a good choice?

Pics to follow.

Buy the D14, the new coolers seen were prototypes and no one knows any dates for any new releases yet

Thanks Tom, I was seriously holding off for release, but I will get the D14. As and when the new Noctua "fans" are released, I can always buy some and swap out the old D14 fans, and use the old ones on the case.

They is proper lush!!

Got a real nice finish to them, and are a lot smaller than you would think, seeing them in video's etc.

Need to get a new camera for the rest of this build though.
