Well, I've already got this machine up and running. There are some videos of the build and stuff but unfortunately my internet has gone to piddle and I have no idea why;

So the vids aren't going to see the light of day until that's sorted. I tried pinging my brother's PC across the LAN and it was getting 7ms, so I guess it's the router. The lights fused the night before I noticed it, so seems like it could be a re-sync issue but I have no idea at all. It just makes me sad, is all.

ANYWAY, here's what I've got done so far;

There's still a lot I want to do with this but it'll have to wait for another pay day. Obviously, a MoBo aux power cable extension is number 1 on my list...

Specs;

Intel 3570k CPU
AsRock Extreme4 1155 Z77 MoBo
PowerColor HD 7850 GPU
4x4 GB Mushkin Radioactive RAM
BeQuiet! Dark Rock Pro 2 CPU cooler
Silverpower 750M PSU
Samsung 830 64GB SSD
Akasa Venom Toxic case

I know; I'm going to braid them, extend them and sort it out. Not sure what to do with the front panel connectors, because I'm planning on putting in clear plexi drive bay covers and it'd be nice not to see them. I'm sure I'll work something out. This was pretty much throwing everything together to make sure it works.

It is a project log; this isn't finished. I'll be adding components and doing more mods (plus, when the Internet connection gets sorted, I'll put up the rest of the content, detailing the actual build).

Good luck dude :)

Thanks. I know I probably jumped the gun a bit in posting anything at all here, with most of the actual stuff I wanted to post being unavailable (BTW, connection is still terrible; getting a fibre connection next week, so I'll probably have to wait until then).

Anyway, did a bit of overclocking (for pretty much the first time!) and figured I might as well post up the results here.

24/7 OC:

TEMPS (10 MINS OCCT):

CORE 0 - 55
CORE 1 - 59
CORE 2 - 57
CORE 3 - 52

Max OC to date:

TEMPS (10 MINS OCCT):

CORE 0 - 69
CORE 1 - 75
CORE 2 - 74
CORE 3 - 67

Nice job dude, the 24/7 OC looks very nice indeed. The Max OC is pretty damn awesome as well. You could probably get to 5GHz if you increase the volts further. Try up to 1.4 and see where you get :)

Will do. Just to be sure; upping the voltage is only going to cause overheating. Like, if I whacked it up 'too high', the worst that would happen is the temps going nuts, right?

I would like to go for 5Ghz but the increments compared to the voltages are starting to get a bit mad. I had a really nice 4.7Ghz OC (probably stable enough for 24/7) at only slightly higher voltage than the 4.5Ghz but obviously, the 4.8Ghz took much more. Getting to 5Ghz might be a little dangerous but in saying that, my temps are still pretty damn good (for air cooling, too!). I think I'll put 89 Celsius as my cut off point and see how far it goes...

Yeah as long as you're not running it 24/7 you can push the volts further. It's just to check the limits of the chip. It looks like a pretty nice chip so far though :)

I think the limit is 1.4 for IB, but I'm not 100% sure.

Just a little update; I've added a 1TB Seagate Barracuda HDD (so I can actually play games and stuff now).

Also, overclocked the GPU (to 1000 Mhz) and ran some benchmarks. Temps maxed out at 67 Celsius.
