Hi
My old system start behaving funny and I cannot determine whats wrong, or I get the feeling the motherboard is failing part by part.. The lan stop working (I added a pci lan card), the sound stop working (I added an external sound card).
All started few days ago with my asus gtx780 direct cu II. A sudden freeze and shut down, since the gpu gave me error 43. Nothing worked, nada, so what I did is to move all parts out, clean the gpu, add fresh thermal paste and plug it back in but didnt work that either. I used oven next and the gpu is fine without errors for days now.
All of the sudden same day the 8 gigs of ram installed in this very old mobo asrock p55 pro/usb3 said (8 gigs of ram 3.99 usable). Again nothing worked, I removed the cpu, clean it up, added fresh thermal paste and boom it worked like a champion for 2 days.
cpu temps are 25-27 and 69-74 at stress with video games.
Today I got a very very strange problem. While I was watching YouTube it shut down, just like that. It didn’t power on! I said what the heck!
I removed all rams nothing, I removed the gpu nothing, I changed psu nothing, I removed all hdds nothing..
What makes it work is going to be funny for all. I have to unplug the cord from behind the case and start plug in again but slowly till it boots up by its own. If I plug the cord like normal the gpu lights up but the motherbord doesnt boot at all - like NO power.
The power button doesn’t work since that incident!
And boom it works the gpu is fine, cpu is fine, temperatures are super good, but again ram is 4gigs usable out of 8.
I think the mobo is failing? Or you have a better idea. If the psu have issues, i think I was about to have issues running my gtx780 right now (??) I am typing this topic from this pc actually so it works but with a funny way.
Another incident that bugs me, IF I shutdown the pc via start/shutdown selection (like a normal), then again the pc does nto power on! I have to unplug the psu cord and plug it in slowwwwly, in order to boot up again. It feels like mobo needs some sudden electricity push in order to boot up, gives me that feeling! The psu I have installed is a AX850 by corsair platinum. I also tested a EX850w by corsair again and does the same thing.
right now cpu is at 25-27 and gpu at 24 with cpuID tool
