Project Ideas [Components]

OK I managed to run into some cash, so I'm looking at buying a few new components for my Rig. Things I'm looking for are:

>P45 mobo <£100 [Crossfire, decent layout] - currently thinking ASUS P5Q PRO

>CPU - can't decide between e8400 and q6600, because i mainly use the PC for gaming and quads still show almost no improvement and the e8400 is clocked higher, and i'm on air so the dual will be easier to cool and is 45nm.

>RAM: PC2-8000+ - currently thinking of OCZ 2*2GB kit, open to recommendations so long as <£75 [4GB is size wanted]

I already have

>Case: Antec 900

>PSU: Corsair HX520

>GPU: 7900GS

>HDD: 2*160GB HGST's, 40GB media drive

As a side note, I am also looking for recommendations for a cooler for the CPU which can fit in a 900 with the fan bracket removed. Also a cooler for the 7900GS as stock is a right annoyance under load, but which preferrably would be compatible with a 4870, as that will probably be my next card.

right, asus P5E, amazing board, i love it, damn nice, does the job and its BLACK!!! HOO YAR!!!

Or, could opt for an Abit IP35 Pro, still a good board, nice and stable....

or, go out on a wim, buy something out of the ordinary, you never know, something may suprise you...:D

OK, so i'm pretty well 100% on the Motherboard as the ASUS P5Q-E, but I'm really struggling with the choice of CPU HSF, I need to know whether the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 will clear the heatsink assembly around the socket on the mobo, or if anyone can recommend me a quiet and capable cooler which will.

Also I'm thinking of this as the RAM: 4GB G.Skill but I have been advised such tall heatsinks may cause problems of their own?

Any advice would be much appreciated.
