Project Coolermaster:Green

Everyone loves the original Coolermaster cases, and it was a crying shame when they ceased production. The new Silverstones are about as close as you can get but they lack the refinements, and use a 50/50 Steel-Aluminium finish. They also lack imagination in my honest opinion.

I decided to start work on a new personal project; one that was slightly different and more challenging than before. The end result I am aiming for is a funky chromed Kawasaki green Coolermaster 110. It will house a Waterchill kit comprising Antartica block, Hydor L30 pump/res, 8/10mm tubing and a Black Ice Pro II rad housed in the top panel. The goal here is purely aesthetics and silence - not performance. The Waterchill kit is the best kit for the job in this case as its relatively flexible and uses small tubing - obviously smaller is better in this instance.

The next step was to strip the case to the bare miniumum, removing all the rivets, preparing the aluminium for anodising. This was my first challenge; if you have ever taken the panels off this case you know what I mean. I then needed to clean the chassis from top to bottom. This was a good two years old, and it had never been cleaned judging by the dust layer coating.

Pictures to follow.

The panels ready for action. I've already cut a 120mm hole in the top panel, replacing the grill - its bubble wrapped and ready for polishing.

Note I am also going to be using two Coolermaster stealth bezels, floppy bezels, drive bezels and maybe even a Matrix Orbital controller. Time will tell.

Check this out - The barebones chassis; basically whats left after everything is removed. I am in two minds to actually anodise the tray as well..

Ok so more updates: the panels have been polished and have been anodised, but its far from finished, there are a few niggles to deal with which I will discuss later in the thread. For now, here's some pics. (PICS REMOVED FOR BANDWIDTH REASONS)

The finish is amazing on this case, I love it - its totally different to anything else I have done.

The Niggles :- The window panel is damaged. What makes it worse is that it was custom made, and it went really well with the case - however the polishing wheel was too heavy for it, and one of the corners was damaged. So back to the drawing board with this. I'm working on a new panel now.

The Matrix Orbital controller is really badly designed. They use the cheapest grade of aluminium front fascia, which cannot be anodised so I'm having to use a custom bezel. No major hassle, its just slowed me down considerably. These companies dont make it easy for customisation do they!!!

I'm now considering the watercooling components. My orginal ideas are out the window, and I'm going with something much more custom to suit the project.

OMG...That is beautiful ! That is possibly the best case i ever ever ever seen.

Great job ! awesome...

Very very nice.

Just cut the back grill out and use your own, will look even better.

look at that fookin shine man thats got to be the nicest paint job ive seen yet can we have more pics of the internals :D

Cheers fella. To be honest with you I think its an art form; I love experimenting with different designs and colours. Its a form of expression. I cant wait to produce my own case range...

did i hear phils own case range is this a joke or do i need my credit card :D , i understand the art .and i completely agree if one thing looks abit shabby the whole thing is ruined .
