Project: Centurion WC

Ok I tired to go straight in with a 3.6ghz using a 1:1 ratio. I cud not get it stable with 1.5vcore, 100.23%, 2.15 dram, 1.510 sb, 1.5nb, 1.5vtt. It would fail OCCT within 10 mins. The max temp on any core was 64C.

It is safe to try higher voltages?

I am OCCT stable @ 3.0ghz, ram @ 1066 5-5-5-15, 1.32vcore, Auto (1.35v max according to OCCT), 2.15 dram, 1.510 sb, 1.265 nb, 1.211vtt. Max temp 51C.

Edit: I am now OCCT stable @ 3.2ghz, ram @ 1150 5-5-5-15, 1.35vcore, Auto (1.39v max according to OCCT), 2.15 dram, 1.510 sb, 1.265 nb, 1.211vtt. Max temp 55C.

Edit 2: I am now OCCT stable @ 3.3ghz, ram @ 1175 5-5-5-15, 1.375vcore, Auto (1.45v max according to OCCT), 2.15 dram, 1.510 sb, 1.3 nb, 1.222vtt. Max temp 57C.

Updated the 1st page with 3DMARK06 score. I think I am finished for a while, need to get on with installing all my applications.

any chance of nicking that CustomPC Magazine :D might help me on my adventure to WC

Looks Real good mate nice work although alot of the time it just wasnt working for you but seems like it was worth it in the end how much did you spend on all of that WC equipment mate?

2 things, your slapping the heat of your psu through the rad, and with everything on that system, it must be getting pretty warm, and you also only have the rad held on with 2 mounting brackets?!?!

Dude, im no engineer but that cant be good for either the case or the rad. you can fit 4 mounts on there, trust me.

Other than that, i love it, cant beat a first watercooling setup up, I miss mine so much. :(

as for the v.core question, i regularly slap mine up to near the 1.6v area, if you need to, go for it, its why you have watercooling dont forget.!!

Just wouldnt exactly recommend using it as a 24/7 thing, just for the odd 3dmark run if you know i mean XD

Whoa whoa 1.6v are you crazy? Maybe to boot and take a validation with a quad core but no stress. Hes not running a 939!

Piece of advice. Turn your HDs around and route your cables behind the cages. Will look alot better.

not an overclocker then?

iv slapped my q6600 up to 1.6 and its fine. just make sure you have some damn good cooling. It will be fine....any serious temps though, pull the plug, quick.

Hehe, yeah I bought the mag to read while I was on the plane when I was going on holiday, and it was useful. I think that was a sign to go water cooling.

I spent around £160 inc delivery on all the Water Cooling parts. Got most of it from WCUK with 10% discount :) . All in all it is pretty quiet, which is what I was aiming for. CPU reached a max of 58C during OCCT which isn't bad.

Yeah I thought that the PSU and rear fan would chuck hot air through the rad, but I can't mount it anywhere else. If I used the 4 mounts then it would have to move up and it would stick out above the top of the case and look even more silly. I can't move it down as I have to plug in my VGA monitor to the DVI connector using a adapter. and it won't fit. It seems to be ok with the 2 mounts, but I will keep an eye on it.

I have tried to get the CPU stable at 3.4ghz with many different dividers, but it is not having it. I think 3.3ghz is the max for this CPU, and I can get away with low volts.

I should have done this, but I have now moved the tower into it's little corner and would have to disconnect everything to pull it back out. I have no side window so I will leave it until I next open up the PC and do it then.

Thanks for the comment guys and the help along the way!!!

I stuffed 1.7v through mine just for a validation. As it wasn't crunching, temps weren't high at all... Like mid 40's. Obviously took it straight back down afterwards.

Well with duals your not supposed to really put more than 1.55v through them and with quads i imagine its worse. Oh im an overclocker, 2.8ghz on a 3000+ with 1.61v isnt to shabby on air but were talking about pushing 1.66v through a quad and you where asking him to bench that way. Idk if thats such a good idea.

Well depends on the bench I spose. Put it this way.. I wouldn't Orthos or Prime with 1.65+ vs going through one. Anything that isn't going to work it very hard shouldn't be an issue for a min or two.

But yeah nice results on the AMD :D... I never really tried to overclock my 939 much.. Think it was a 3500+. Wouldn't have got very far.

:O Oh you are so missing out! That's like, never watching Power Rangers when you were young!

Edit: I am going to build my 939 back up again soon and oc it :)

Well my Uguru mobo had an auto overclock that gave me something like 200mhz extra but that was it.

I did watch power rangers though :p
