[Project]: Big Bro' Prodigy (BitFenix Prodigy E-ATX mod)

Maybe someone already asked, but will you mod the non-windowed side panel?

No one asked before! :) And to be honest I'm not sure about what to do with it yet.

The ultimate thing would to keep it 100% original. However, due to the fact how the PSU is placed I might have to drill some holes for it to inhale fresh air. That requires some testing first of course so I don't know about it yet.

There's not much to see behind the motherboard tray so a plexi glass ain't gonna happen, haha ;)

Wow! Looks great mate! Love what you have done with the psu

Thanks a bunch! :)
As I mentioned in the update the holes/edges aren't finished yet. I'll polish them and put a mesh over to make it look good and not as cut-out.

Also. I've figured out that I will probably paint the case! The reason is I've gotten some scratches on it due to all the hard cutting it sustains :P
Dunno what color tho! I will go with monocrome tho. What if I paint it the same way the PowerMac G5 looks? :P hehe. Would be a PowerMac Mini case.

IT'S MY CASE IN A BOX!!! lol srry The Lonely Island immediately popped into my head when I read that x-). Really good progress so far nikkop :beerchug:

Loving watching this progress week by week...

Thanks mate! Then you'll hopefully like the next modification update that I've got planned ;)

However, I'll try to get a video out before that with some motherboard specifications and such things. But the next modification update, just wait for it, it shall be sweet!

Thanks again

Looking good. Like how you now have all the cabling through the bottom. Can't wait to see it all cleaned up and painted will be awesome.

I'm guessing you prob will have to mod the side panel for the PSU to get some good air flow for it, Maybe just cut a hole and use some kind of fan grill even rather than drilling lots of holes might be easier.

Looking forward to seeing it mate! I'm sure it will look epic!

Thanks a bunch! Appreciate it.
I guess you like the color scheme? ;) Referring to your name haha.

Thanks man :)

About the PSU, it requires some testing. Maybe it can handle the small gap as for airflow or it may need more room. A hole and a fan grill is a great idea, I have thought of that and that may the be route I'm going :)
That way, with a good lookin fan grill, it will look clean and good instead of drilled holes :)

Thanks again,

UPDAAAAAAATE! :D

Replacing the old I / O & PCI-E back on the chassis with aluminum "mesh". - 30/04 -2013

UPDATE 29/4 - 2013

Hello everyone!

Hope youre all doing great! Here I am witha new update :)

This update will be about constructing and mounting of the new back piece. The original back with the I/O- and PCI-ports on the Bifenix Prodigy.

Due to the fact that Ive created a new place for these holes on my mod the original back fits no purpose any longer.
So I will get some 1mm steel mesh and test mount it to see what it would look like in this update! :)

Let's go!

Here's the original back of the Prodigy that I no longer have any use for.

I'm going to replace it with this mesh of 1mm thick steel. It's pretty solid!

As you can see the mesh doesnt fit out-of-box of course :) I mark what is to be cut off.

Once I cut that off it suddenly fits a lot better :D ;)

Not entirely done thou. I need to cut some details for it to line up.

After some measuring I get that done and it all fits so much better now! :) Dont you think?

Now its time to test mount the mesh! :)
To do this I put some masking tape so I can point out where to drill the holes.

I got a nice and handy present from my family. Will come in use fo shure! ;)

Drilling the holes Ive marked out :)

Now its left to mount it. I do it with some rivets. Rivets turns out to be awesome for this :)

Aaaand here's the result of this update! What do you think? :)

That was the fix of the new back part :) Its not 100% done tho. What I am to do is to cut the original back off as I have no use for it. This means that the mesh will be the only thing at the back, the original back won't exist any longer.
This also allows me to make my own holes/mountings for like fans etc.

I Will of course paint the mesh so the color matches the rest of the build! :)

I think this turned out great.
What do you think? :)

And for those wondering. Yes, the side panels can still be attached as regular! :)

As expected you didn't disappoint. Great back panel and of course it will look 100 times better with when the old panel is cut out.

Keep up the good work

Looks pretty good imo! Though yes, it does need to be black like you said :)

Oh, and I've traded in the coffee for some ice tea so I'm all good :D

Pretty good job mounting the mesh. Thank god you're removing the original back though otherwise it would have just looked the same with a mesh over the top of it

Yes. Now it just acts as a on-top layer but I will remove the old back and get this new one to blend in with the right color! :)

Thanks and yes! :) Black or another color, depends on how I will paint the rest of the case! :D

Ice tea is okay then ;) Next time hot chocolate! :D

Wow! Looks amazing mate!
I'm seriously loving this project - it's one of the best Prodigy mods i've seen!

Thanks! :D Appreciate it a lot. Something specific you are waiting to see? :D

Thanks and I agree haha. Will remove it of course and get it painted and mount a fan or something. However that is for later parts of the project! :)

Thanks a lot again,
