I've had problems with my current 2500k since i bought my pre build system.

I was never able to clock it over 4,1ghz and was never able to get voltage lower then 1.245v even on stock.

Build was returned several times without the company finding anythinh.

Mobo: ASRock pro3
Cooler: Scythe mugen 2 single fan

Yesterday i somehow managed to get infected with bcoin mining malware (happy it actually happened) cpu constant 86c wich really worries me as i still got to stick with the system till haswell and 700 nv series are released.

Did put some new thermal paste on it already without succes made sure case was dust free cleaned cooler with low pres air. Still it stays around the same.

Not resetted bios yet will do it when i get home to make sure the system stays alive till haswell

Could this just be a case of shitty CPU?

what is the current cpu usage when at 86c???? is it actually idle or is that malware causing a load?? what model psu do you have?? we need more than oh I have an asrock mobo and 2500k with a mugen cooler. And your sig is very vague please list all specs with brand and such.

if its a cheap arse psu @550watts it may not be pulling 550watts in reality. And that may be alot of your issues with volting and ocing. As 500watts is min for the 6950 so if psu is crappy ocin aint gonna be stable or happen at all.

plus if your going haswell you'll have to replace the psu most likely as alot of report have current psu's not supporting haswell due to C6 and C7 state issues.

It is running 80-86 on 100% load over all 4 cores

As for the psu Be Quit 550W 80plus partnr: BQT S6-SYS-UA-550w

For the haswell system all parts except HDD/SSD's will be new so that will be alright

whats causing the load are you loading it up or ???

bequiet is reputable so i doubt an issue there.

The load was created by the malware at first. Malware is now deleted and i am simulating it currently with Prime95

then it may be a shitty cpu ...but just to make sure I have it right your running stock correct??

Yes

Currently running these temps now at stock

I guess that I was lied to by the company who delivered this system all the time?

I dont know alot about the mugen cooler but it looks the part somewhat I'd imagine it should handle a stock i5 easily so something is wrong. what program are ya using for the temp monitoring??? maybe it got buggered

Lowest Voltage at all times is 1.245 and thats on stock and/or 4.1 or anything in between.

If i got any lower then 1.245 pc wont get into windows

max temp 86 @ ±40 minutes

you might have misunderstood the question.

using TTL 1155 overclocking guide to under-volt the stock multiplier voltage
(would be about 1.02-1.1 for 33/35 multiplier) the 1.245vcore sounds like an
auto voltage and lil to no LLC control.
