Problem - Downgrading Asus P5K BIOS

I am trying to downgrade my bios but keep getting the error "ERROR! Unable to read ROM file".

I have tried the method here using 3 different USB pens, 2 different ROM revisions downloaded numerous times and 2 versions of AFUDOS off the ASUS website aswell as the one in that thread download numerous times and get the same error everytime. I have also tried it using the FreeDOS which is included on the motherboard CD and get the same error.

I have done a current ROM save using the AFUDOS utility (AFUDOS /o) to make sure there isn't a problem with the motherboard reading the flash pens and that works fine.

Is there a problem with the motherboard or am i missing something blindingly obvious?

(I have also posted this on the Asus forum).

Sorted it.

I ended up using AsusUpdate to flash 1006 again, switched the computer off part way through so it didn't finish flashing then used the Crash Recovery to get the basic BIOS on, flashed to 0408, then to 0902. Not really a very good way of doing it, but it worked.

I couldn't even get and old version of AsusUpdate to flash back to 0902 with the downgradable option enabled, it gave some sort of invalid EEPROM error.

Well you could try doing this with AFUDOS engineering edition

from Asus forums.

It's at THIS LINK

I tried that and got the same error as the other versions of AFUDOS :(

In all honesty i think the motherboard is faulty, i've been having quite a few problems with it.
