Presario SR2011WM

Hi, three things:

1. How can I tell if my Presario SR2011WM can support a PCIe card?

2. What would be a good opengl based graphics card for this computer?

3. Running certain opengl software locks up the computer. The onboard graphics is a Radeon xpress200 with an ATI Catalyst Controller. The ATI Catalyst claims to support opengl. I've installed the latest drivers to no avail. Any suggestions?

thanks -

Michael

Hi Joe, thanks for your quick reply.

As far as my budget, I don't know what the price ranges are for graphics cards ... I would like something that plays FlightGear, which is the software that locks my computer. Any suggestions?

Yes it does have PCI-E

any Nvidia Card > 6600 will have adequate OGL performance (as a general rule nvidia > ati with regards to opengl performance)

for a specific Gcard i ask .. what is your budget?

if you can see catalyst and the drivers work you *Should* have OGL which apps arent working for you ?

Is $150 ... like ... way too little?

not really you can get a decent card for $150 (1950/Gtpro on some sites as the new Ati parts are nearing fruitition)

... if you can strech it would be in your best interest to get RAM and the Gcard ..

EDIT:: WE are happy to help

Maybe a 7900GS? only about £100 here.

X1950pro > 7900GS though

Yeah my overall vote would be X1950Pro as i'm not sure where the 7900GS series stands with the problems with was having a while back now.
