For gaming performance of 1260 x 1024 considering noise, performance, price to performance ratio

I want to max out as many settings within reason until dx10 :)

Well the x1900 is gonna straight out kick the 7600gt's a$$ in performance. However, ATI are not known for their quiet cooling solutions :nono:

Judging by your memory thread this will go into a rig with a conroe 6600? The 7600gt won't do it justice, esp. if kempez is making you overclock :p

The x1900 is much more realistic in the situation - I'm just about to order an x1900xt for my 6600 rig.

If you can, get the HIS IceQ3 X1900GT. I have it, and it rapes ur face :p.

I'll take on any 7900GT in this forum.

This has probabaly already been resolved, but if not then I think you should get a 7600 GT or 7900 GS. If I were to build a conroe system I'd just get a good enough graphics card to play most games on high (7600/7900) and save the rest for a rapeage DX10 card.

The 7900GS can be picked up for around £125 delivered (from scan), which is a great price and i'm greatly tempted, but the 7900GTO is only ~£40 more and apparently gives almost the performance of a 7900GTX and has a near silent cooliong solution (can be bought at www.overclockers.co.uk)
