Power out in my area

Heya guys,

So we've had a power out in my area, a total blackout. Not sure why, as no thunder, earthquake or so... but everything is black.

My PC was on during it, now my question is this and please be gentle with your answer cause I don't want to be f*cked with on this one... Do you think or can my PC be dead cause of this?. I know that if a thunder strike goes down and you don't have one of those "UPSs", the chances are it might be dead?...

Thanks,
Chrazey

If it's just suddenly the power being cut out then it should be fine. You'll lose whatever you were working on and on startup Windows will tell you that it wasn't shut down properly and you might have to choose an option to boot as normal but most hardware these days handles that stuff pretty well.

Obviously don't make a habit of shutting down your PC by cutting the power, but if it happens it should be fine. I once had my power cut while playing a game cause my dad cut a power cable while trimming the hedge (Yeah... that actually happened ) and it's happened at random times like twice before in the past few years but my PC has always been fine.

Ohh dang dude, thanks for calming me down *thumbs up*

Haha nahh, did that years ago... not any more though hehe. And yeah, everything is gone here, so looks like a sudden one. I mean, there's no electricity at all in my area. Our neighbours doesn't have electricity either lol.

Seems like what your dad did happened here as well... only the construction going on in the area, might have digged and cut a wire lol.

No it's not as a UPS (or Uninterruptable Power Supply) is actually a battery which allows you to properly shut down your connected equipment in case if a sudden power failure.

No worries though if you have a power failure like yours. As said before you'll have lost whatever you were doing and windows will most likely prompt you how to start up on your next boot. Just choose 'start windows normally' and all should be fine :)

Yah cool, I've looked at those UPS before, but they were quite expensive though.

And it actually started up like normal, no Windows telling me anything hehe ^_^

Thanks guys! :)
