Potential Gaming Rig - Ideas welcome

Hi ya

This is my first attempt at building my own rig for a good number of years, so very out of touch with up to date technology, so be easy with me .

Rig will be mainly used as a gaming rig using one monitor and hopefully be able to play the latest games at a good frame rate, etc.

The parts I hope to get over the next few months are:

Processor: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz
Motherboard: MSI Z77A-GD55 Z77
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Blue 8GB 1600Mhz
HDD: Samsung SSD 830 2.5inch SATA III 6GBps 256GB
GFX: Asus GTX670-DC2-2GD5, Direct Cooling 2
PSU:750W be quiet! DARK POWER PRO P10 80PLUS Gold Modular
Cooler: Corsair H100
DVD/CD: Asus 24x DVD±RW DRW-24B5ST SATA ReWriter
Case: Coolmaster Storm Stryker
Keyboard: Razer Arctosa Keyboard (Silver)
Mouse: Razer DeathAdder

I intend to swap out the fans on the Corsair H100 to more quieter ones, I will also get another hard drive, but I am in no rush for that. Already have a monitor that I will replace later, but again I am in no rush. Will add some white LEDs for inside the case and the fans.

Once I get more confident will probably swap out the H100 for a more DIY water cooling system, but that will probably be next year sometime.

If I have made any glaring mistakes or there are better options for roughly the same price as what is being suggested to swap out, would love to know. Thanks alot.

Maybe fo for an AX650 instead? Other than that I see not problems

This is what I call an OC3D staple rig. This is the kind of thing we recommend to people when they ask what they can do to better their rig.

Looks next to perfect to me.
As Seumas said - maybe look at a fully modular psu instead of the semi modular one you have, such as an AX650, or Silverstone Strider - other than that, looks good!

Did not even occur to me that the be quiet PSU was not fully modular so swapping that out with your suggestion of a AX650. Wanted to be double certain that everything will work together and fit in, plus I was not making any noobie errors.

Take the H100 out, and swap it with a Noctua NH-D14. Make sure the RAM is low profile. I had about 3 H100, all of them had a faulty pump. The failure rate is too high for the price of this product.

I think the H100 is fine tbh. They aren't that unreliable - and I think aircooling in a case the size of the Stryker looks stupid

Knock that Be Quiet PSU down to a 650W or even a 550W and that's perfect. Yes the PSU is technically a 'Semi Modular' unit, but the ONLY non modular cable is the main 24pin mobo so imo it's fully modular. No idea why it got bashed a bit, it's a perfect unit and tbh it's probably better than an AX650 (unless you want braided cables, in which case getting an AX650 and the Corsair Individually Braided Cables set would be a better choice, hence why i personally chose an AX650 over the Be Quiet P10)

Been reading up on the H100 and I think the earlier releases seem to be abit more unreliable than they are now. Plus it will be my little step towards water cooling, which I will eventually go for, when I get a bit more experience and know what I am doing. I also like the fact that most of the glazed area will not be filled up with a massive heat sink, taking away some of the look.

Will be going for the braided cables so AX650 it is. Thanks for all the input guys.

With regards to LEDs and braided cable, would it look better if the LEDs were white and the cable blue to match the motherboard colours?

White LED strips extenuate the coloured features better - but they ruin LED fans.
Coloured LED strips just tend to dye everything that colour...

So white is better - unless you have LED fans (except white LED fans )

White LED's are awesome, i have a 30cm Bitfenix Alchemy Connect White LED kit and 3 140mm Spectre Pro White LED fans and they look amazing together. So imo i'd say white LED strip for sure!
