I have a VA screen. It was sold to me as IPS (HP Envy 32) but was such a massive difference over my Acer TN that I forgave them for telling a white lie. I also now know that I could not go back to TN. Not ever. Oddly enough I am literally talking about this live with my friend on Skype as I type this. And I said that basically gaming was OK on a TN because you are sat up in your gaming position looking straight at it. However, for literally everything else it makes such an enormous difference it's not even funny. Web browsing, watching movies* and so on. All so much nicer on IPS or VA.
*I have a chair that has an exo skeleton and moves with me and when I am watching movies or Youtube I proper adopt the "Gangster lean" position. And it is then that I can see the enormous difference in brightness *plus* the contrast it needs to remain visible and not turn white etc. I did make sacrifices on my monitor. No G-Sync, 70hz max synced but those were the only two penalties. And one wouldn't have affected me much any way (if you drive Fallout 4 at higher than 70 FPS it behaves very badly) and the other I can just about live without, thanks to Fast Sync and Adaptive Vsync.
