This is my first ever rig, started building it summer 2010 after settling a deal with the parents.

With no knowledge of computers what so ever I bought CPU, MB, RAM and GPU. By a stroke of luck I got good equipment (I hadn't heard of this forum at that time).

Then I found the videos and eventually the forum, learnt a thing or two, and now my rig is where it is currently thanks to the forum.

Specs:

Case: NZXT Phantom

CPU: intel i5 750 @ 3.6GHz

RAM: 8GB Mushkin Blackline 1600MHz

Motherboard: Asus Maximus III Formula

GPU: MSI GTX 580 Lightning

Storage Drives: 115GB Mushkin Callisto Deluxe, 2x 500GB Seagate Barracuda (RAID 0)

PSU: Corsair HX850W

Sound Card: Asus Xonar Xense

RAD: XSPC EX360

Pump: XSPC X20 750

CPU Block: XSPC Raystorm

Got my CPU and GPU stable at these settings, could only just get 4GHz at 1.4v but unfortunately this is no longer stable 24/7, folding may have done this and tbh it wasn't getting me many points anyway so I might stop folding CPU. Got the Lightning overclocked to 960 core and 2320 mem.

Now for some piccys:

First just a look at it from the outside.

Lights on, panel off inside shot.

And finally an upward shot of the Lightning.

I like it, especially the last picture, the blue cold cathode gives it this chilly look.

Cablemanagement could be a little better, but nice overall.

I was going to take a second look at the cables at some point to see what I could do with them, and thats actually an NZXT sleeved LED kit that I'm using to light up the case

Yeah the blue led lightnig with the white case give this cool glowing effect.

Put a little more efford in the cable management and you nailed it mate, good job!

Cheers

very nice indeed mate how are you finding the NZXT Sleeved LED kit mate. i have it in white and not bad especially as you can switch it off or turn the brightness down

Can you show some pics with the side panel closed, so i can see if you can use the mesh part of the phantom as a window because of the led lights inside

you can use it as a window, if you want. just take the dust filter off and it's pretty visible, for a round circle.

looking good dude!

i love looking at lighting features but i cant have them myself as i have sleeping problems and having the room lit up wont help hehe.

buy come cheap black cable ties and invest an hour into tidying up the cables a tad more and your on for one sweet looking rig matey (its almost identical to mine including the keyboard

Yeah, good thing you worked on these cables, matey. The Phantom sure swallows them all quite easily and makes them disappear somehow.

Thanks for all the comments, I'll be uploading some pics of the newer cable management when I have something new to show off as well, expect them some time in April.

Those pics at the moment aren't the cable management I have currently, I have already invested in some extra zip ties and tidied it up more.

Also the mesh does work as a window with the LEDs, I can see clearly inside, will try to show that off in the next lot of pics as well.

A lil update. Just ordered something special.

All pics of the interior have been removed from the first post now, will be adding pics including the new piece to the first post when it arrives.

With luck expect pics by the end of the weekend.

Have a go at guessing what I've bought, some of you may or may not know already if you remember a recent post I made.

some kind of gpu?

You gotta be specific or I won't tell you until it arrives and I've taken pics. Keep guessing.

Edit:

1. It arrived today Friday 8th April, but broken.

2. Will also be doing some benchmarks and uploading the scores when I get it, btw it was a 580 Lightning.

3. Sent it back yesterday, parcel tracking makes me think it'll be with them today, with luck they'll send out the replacement today and I'll get it tomorrow
