I bought an Obsidian 800D about 6 months ago and it done great with my GTX470's and GTX280 for cooling. Everything stayed fairly cool. But since I bought the case I've moved the case to my living room , it is running all the time and Ive bought a Palit GTX580 that blows most of the heat into the case with very little of the heat being exhausted outside the case. My 800D has all fan slots filled and still the inside of my case holds most of the heat. With all those 120MM fans in my case the noise is too much to have it in my living room.

So I am looking for a case with a few 200mm+ fans (because they move a lot of air and arent noisey doing so) and a case with HDD dampening because the sound of my HDD's is annoying. I was thinking of ordering a HafX , but I see a few people complain that the build quality wasnt that good and its not at all quiet with bad air flow. I need a case with a 200mm or bigger side fan to help with cooling and a case with decent airflow and good cable management. Also I will need a case thats long enough to install extra long graphics cards (in case the high end graphics cards get very long) so that I am future proofed , because I want to hold onto my next case for a long time.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The NZXT Phantom comes with a single 200, space for another 200 in the roof (has to be one of theirs), and space for a 200 (again theirs) or a 230 (proper) on the side.

The Bitfenix Collosus has a 230 included and space for another 230 but no side fan.

No other cases spring to mind I'm afraid, you reckon 140s would be too loud for you?

CoolerMaster HAF 932

From the two sites I buy my parts from (None of the local computer shops are any good for cases) The Haf 932 is available but the NZXT Phantom isnt available on any of the two web shops.

Heres where I am looking for cases to be delivered to Ireland

http://www.dabs.ie/category/components-and-storage,cases--cooling-and-power,cases/11145

or here http://www.komplett.ie/Komplett/catalog/ZKB_01COM/02_PCCASE/default.aspx

I dont know of any other good web shops that will deliver to Ireland.

Thanks for your suggestions so far though. I am considering the Haf 932 so far.

Would have to be HAF X or HAF 932. Tom didn't mention anything about the case being poor quality in the assassin build, and I'd go by his word on that any day.

Silverstone Raven: Quiet, may not have side fans, but uses 3x180mm and physics to cool your build. (Silverstone Fortress 2 would be better but the sites you shop from don't have it)

Antec P193: Very quiet, also has a 200mm side fan.

Note: Both cases will take a bit more effort when it comes to cable management, but they both have really good airflow.

I have a half x and i don't think it is bad quality.... Its sturdy and looks nice (IMO). But the only problem with it is dust, regardless of what u've heard, the air flow is pretty good, and it moves a lot of air (and dust) in the case. The problem is that the front intake only have that honeycomb grill :S not good against dust, and the other dust filters are a pain to get at to clean properly (you can try to wipe or vacuum, but to clean it properly you gotta use a screwdriver and take off the fan

) but other than that I think its an awesome case.

If i were you though, i would definitely get the colossus window. because that is a good case, it looks great, AND you can put some fans on the side IF you want

so its bi-winning

hahaha

Steve I use Ebuyer from time to time and they delivery to Ireland and they have all those cases in stock atm

HAF 932

NZXT Phantom Black and White

HAF X

My GTX580 that I got two weeks ago got lost in delivery by ebuyer. It took them three weeks to track it down and when I did eventually get the GPU it wasnt packed properly. I got the GPU in its own box with black insulating tape holding it together. So No thanks with Ebuyer.

Anyway I was told that the Raven 2 is a good case and Dabs Ireland hast it in stock.

I can see how that might put someone off. I normally use Scan and Aria, they deliver to me in the North, not so sure about down South

And the Raven 2 is a cracking case fom the reviews I'm seen.

Is it for an air build dude? Id have a look at the Silverstone cases tbh like the FT02 for example.
Sorry I missed your post Tom. Yes its for air cooling. I have the corsair H50 for my CPU and everything else is air cooled. Just wondering how good the HDD dampening is in the Silverstone cases? The biggest problem I have with my 800D is the HDD noise. Then the second biggest problem is the terrible airflow in my 800D. I dont care if the case doesnt have any lights or a side window.

The three big selling points in the Phantom for me is

1) The fan controller

2) The red colour it is available in

3) It looks incredibly cool.

The Silverstones I suggested rape the phantom for both temps and the ammount of noise created, adding to that the silverstones are 100% better for dust filtering.

i have been using the silverstone FT02 case for over a year, perfect for air flow, quiet, dust filters for all intake fans, sound damping foam on side panels.

Brilliant case for anyone who want a case for a air cooling based rig

Scan have the RV02 dude

I found it on dabs too. Its a pitty I cant get it in red though. Did OC3D ever do a review of the RV02? does it very long graphics cards like the GTX590 or new Dual ATI. Im just asking in case in the future Nvidia or ATI make their high end single chip cards extra long.

I found a video review of the RV02 and I think Ill pass on that.

Theres only enough space for three HDD's and if SLI / XFire is used then the second GPU will interfere with the HDD cables.

Theres a new RV03 available at scan. I wonder what changes they made to it? http://www.scan.co.uk/products/silverstone-raven-rv03b-mid-tower-black-with-side-window-w-o-psu

That's why I keep saying RV02-Evolution or FT02, the original RV02 buggered up the transition from the big full tower RV01. The RV02-E and FT02 share the same internals, here's a sweet build from Lazy Man using the FT02...

The OC3D Yeti is built in the RV02-E White Edition. As with the RV02, the new box of ideas thrown together and not working out perfectly. I'll wait for the revised RV03 when Silverstone iron out the niggles if one is insistent on the Raven 3. http://www.chiphell....ne-rv03-review/

i was very surprised with the fractal R3 that i won last month - i HAD to put lights in it, so that i know that it is on - lol
