Please suggest a case for good cooling thats silent.

I think with the amount of questions regarding which is the best case for on air lately, we need to make a review of the RV02, what do you say Tom

airflow and silence are two different things IMHO

my yang rig is silent - fractal R3 - moderate airflow - stealthily silent

my ying rig is like a fridge - CM storm scout - like a vacuum cleaner

That's why I keep saying RV02-Evolution or FT02, the original RV02 buggered up the transition from the big full tower RV01. The RV02-E and FT02 share the same internals, here's a sweet build from Lazy Man using the FT02...

The OC3D Yeti is built in the RV02-E White Edition. As with the RV02, the new box of ideas thrown together and not working out perfectly. I'll wait for the revised RV03 when Silverstone iron out the niggles if one is insistent on the Raven 3. http://www.chiphell....ne-rv03-review/

I will definately consider the RV03. Its number one on my list of cases to buy.

The RV02 is meant to be fantastic for airflow and silent HDD's , but the two things that puts me off it is there is only space for 3 HDD'S (I have four HDD's)and if you want to use SLI / XFire then your HDD cables will be snagged by the second GPU.

Not true. My 800D has terrible airflow and its still noisey (or as you would say like a vacuum cleaner). I have two 2 x 250GB HDD's in Raid0 and theyre not too noisey , but as soon as I put in my 1TB HDD or 500GB HDD the noise is terrible. I wont be going for such a big case the next time. I will buy a mid tower which will be easier to cool with less noise.

Look at the Raven RV02-E

It is changed from the regular one, with space for 5 hard drives. one is a hot swap bays as well, take a look at the one that Tom built for gadget show live. they are very nice cases, decent price to.

I cant find that one on Scan or dabs. SO I will buy the RV03 instead. The RV03 will be cheaper too.

I missed those. I was looking for it on scan and couldnt find it. I still want to buy the RV03 though , because they seem to have made a good few changes to it and it looks like its better. I will wait to see a review and hope the HDD's have decent dampening.

Yeah I'm liking the way they hide them all round the back of the motherboard in the 03.

Nah I think most of us when suggesting this case mean the evolution version, which I think is all they sell now. It has 5 HDD bays and I'm pretty sure they even adjusted it so SLI was easier with cables and the HDD

White RV02 simples. Inside of the RV03 looks wrong imho.

I dont like white cases. I would rather either red or black.

Do the HDD bays still have good dampening in them in the evolution?

Sorry for the late reply. Friend got a new BBQ so I munged out at his all weekend on bourbon and steak!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they do. They have the little rubber grommets on the inside of the swap bays, I think. Either way, you can always get the FT02. It has a fair bit of sound dampening if I remember correctly.

I'll check my Raven tomorrow when it arrives for you though

Thank you. It will be a few weeks before I buy a case and I dont want to make a mistake in buying the wrong case. What I might do is get the case powder coated red like the Phantom.

I might have a change of plan with the new case I am buying very soon. I am waiting to see the reviews of the Corsair H100 and might be changing my H50 for the H100. So I will need a case that will accomodate a 240MM radiator.

Do you guya have any suggestions?

I was suggested to buy an NZXT Phantom and was told it would fit a Corsair H100 with push pull in the roof where the 200MM fans are. I dont think it will fit push/ pull in the roof with a 240mm rad.
