Please help me with Ram speed.

Hi OC3d :)

I've had this RAM for about a year now and never really bothered that it ran at 1333 but now I'm seeing that BF4 is seeing significant improvements from ram speed I thought it was high time to get my RAM up to its correct speed of 1600Mhz.

So pops into bios, set the RAM multiplier to x16, restart and... nothing, OK set it to XMP, restart and nothing again!

CPU-z confirms that nothing changed, bios still says its running at 1333 too, any idea what might be going on here?

Specs:

Gigabyte Z77x-D3H motherboard on latest firmware
Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 4gb X 2 (in slots 2 and 4)
Intel i5 3570k @ 4.5Ghz

stupid question, are you sure you're saving and exiting and not discarding changes and exiting?

Um...

So I just went and got a bios screenshot etc, then went to take a CPU-Z screenshot and there it is, 800Mhz. I tried for hours before without success, must have been like this for a few weeks since I last tried.

Ah well, thanks for the input guys, I'm gonna go and facepalm for the rest of the afternoon.

Have fun with that ;)
Glad it's fixed now!

Just thought I'd pop back and mention what was happening now I've worked it out. Save & Exit/restarting does not change the settings, for it to take the new RAM settings on you must POWER OFF the machine and boot it up again and presto, new settings applied.

This has driven me insane.
